WHY did my PP700 get louder?



I have been shooting my PP700 regularly.

However, lately, both I and others thought that it sounded louder than it used to.

I wonder what might have happened — because I need it QUIET!





The specs:

PP700S-A

.22 cal 

Pellet: H&N Sniper Light 14.04gr

Sumo silencer

Huma regulator

Tune:

REG 120bar

MV 688fps (14.8FPE) = 4.5% below the knee of 720fps





All I did recently to the gun was I extended the dovetail rail with a dremel to have more space for a long dovetail-to-picatinny rail adaptor.

And I changed to higher rings to mount a Tactacam on the Discovery VT-3 3-12x44 FFP.

After rezeroing it, it keeps hitting the pigeons at long ranges, just like before.

If someone used a "dremel" on you, I bet you would be louder as well.

Have you checked the breech seal? If it's even partially blown, it will make noise. And a chrono would probably show a loss of velocity, although accuracy might remain acceptable.

yes, for short ranges a loss of velocity would be OK, but I'm hitting stuff out to 60 yards, I'd assume that at those ranges a loss of velocity would make a big difference....

I checked the breach seal, seems OK, but I'll inspect if a little closer in the morning.

Yeah, when that breach seal starts to go the gun literally makes a pop sound.

I think it varies a great deal. The seal could dislodge a small portion, or the entire O ring could blow out. The only time I actually measured it, was when a small section of the O ring blew out, and I think the velocity loss was around 100 fps.

Thank you, I am having a drop of about 30 fps in my Uragan but with a loss of accuracy.

Sounds like your Dremel caused the breech block to loosen up, (Vibration) hope you got it fixed.....
