From everything I've read the only difference between the two is that the FX product uses dedicated dies. So how and why does JSB justify charging more for basically the same product when FX may potentially even be superior?

I haven't noticed any discernable differences performance wise but the questions behind the marketing differences still remain.

Considering FX's reputation as a quasi premium brand it's interesting that they market their badged pellets at a better price point.

So far I've lucked out w/ FX usually shooting just as good as JSB in my guns , so I've stocked up (in .22 ). I haven't yet put either .25 to that test. All JTS pellets I've tried have impressed me. No AEA pellets tried yet.

Steve, from AEAC, did a JSB factory tour in 2019, it's on YouTube. Towards the end a co-owner explains the FX and JSB difference in a "MythBuster" section. Basically, JSB sets up machines and dies for a specific pellet run. Machines and dies are of different ages and hours used so pellet variance is considerable. JSB addresses by blending product from multiple machines in each tin. During this same run, all pellets from a randomly selected machine are determined to be FX product, so pellet variation is greatly reduced. WM

I agree.
Using FX pellets in both .22 and .25 calibers, both 25.4gr pellets.
They seem to shoot better than the JSB's to me. AA's are the same, shoot better and cost less, also made in the JSB Factory.

I find same lead consistency, same dimensions, same variable head sizes, same variable weights in each tin. No discernable difference in accuracy. But I'm an average shooter, no special target skill here. I use JSB and FX interchangeably.

Have found the fx to perform right there with jsb versions in everything from .22 to .30 caliber. I’d buy jsb over fx when the fx are out of stock. Lol.

I now have three guns (two are 25 caliber) that prefer JSB pellets. I have not tried FX 18 grain yet in the one 22 caliber but that is probably what I will buy when I need more. In the 25s it doesn't seem to make a difference and the FX are typically cheaper. The FX 34s seem to be like the MKII JSBs but that is what my guns like anyway. Unless you know your gun likes JSBs better I agree it is not worthwhile to pay a premium for JSBs.

When the H&N 18gr pellets came out a couple of years ago, they were very well made and consistent in size. I never got around to weighing them.
Out of 2 tins (400 pellets) that were 'Pellet Gaged', an astounding 89% were spot on and the same head diameter. They also shot great.
Being a couple of years later now, I have not retried them, assume that the quality has deteriorated a tad due to the dies being older, but I cannot prove that as I still have a bunch to shoot up from the first batch bought.
If your rifle likes 18gr pellets, you may want to give them a try.
