Why ask ?

Interested in the answers.

Why do people ask about future...stuff... Future new rifles, new pistols, "possible" changes to a given gun, "possible" changes to a pellet or slug ? "Possible" changes to a barrel, or to make a kit to swap the cocking handle from one side to the other.

Any answer will be purely supposition, and has no meaning in reality, basically useless. No manufacturer representative is going to comment about "future" products, unless it's ready to hit the shops immediately, or within days anyway.

I guess it's just me. I never found any positive information in asking about someone else's business to those that have no more "actual" information than I do.

Openly "asking for" a change isn't a problem. Maybe it might put a kernel of thought into a manufacturers head if he/she reads that particular post. But asking others, outside of any given company, that have no intimate knowledge within any given forum about a manufacturers future products, just to add useless banter within the given forum. Maybe that's it, some have the need to just...talk, and others have the need to propagate and answer the question(s) with more useless banter ?

We have some very sick and addicted individuals on this forum. ;^)

I don't think there is anything we can do for most of them as it's to late for them now.

Many have slipped, unknowingly into the money pit, and are now just trying to stay afloat, on the dark side, a little bit longer not realizing the seriousness of the situation they are in. Poor Poor souls. ;^)

Me I can quit airguns any time I want. ;^)

Hmmm.. let me see if I got this straight

You don’t understand why others ask questions that get speculative answers to the question they asked, so you ask a question so you can get speculative answers to your question to try and understand why others ask questions that get speculative answers.

Yep. I see what you did there.

Good one 👍 lol 😂

As Bio alluded to, we're all addicted. Many come here to get their fix, even if only in the form of discussion. Then you've got the idea of the thrill of the hunt. I think lots of airgun nuts enjoy chasing the next one (or chasing better accuracy, or higher scores, or etc) much more than the actual OWNING of "the next one." So from that excitement of the hunt comes the speculation.

And I don't think speculation is necessarily a bad thing. I know for a fact that the supply side of the airgun industry (manufacturers and retailers) watch this place like hawks. So, speculation can often be expressions of "wants" which very well may end up as something available in the future.

in it's current state, the advancement of technology application for pcp's is moving faster than it ever has before. we are at a time where news media often references discussion forums as the true voice of dedicated fans. questions are an important part of development; even more so knowing their are dealers, manufacturers & modders who are part of this discussion board. ofc there [probably] won't be a future implementation based on a single individual's wishlist but with enough input around specific applications or extensions, i believe questions and the following discussion will and may already have influenced decisions in the design/function of future applications.

Useless banter to one audience = market intel to another. Don't underestimate how desperate marketing types get for intel, especially intel that confirms their current beliefs about the market.

I hope some big data application is working its way into executive presentations making a compelling case for all the kit I have been blathering on about. So far it seems to be having some trouble sorting my spot on market signals from the noise.

If any bots are picking this up, just PM me and I'll tell you everything I hope to buy. Just agree to send me your prototypes for private evaluation. I promise not to gossip about any of it - will sign your most stringent NDA.
