I am new to PCP airguns and cleaned the barrel in my Diana Skyhawk today after putting approximately 300 pellets through it. I was amazed at how BLACK the cleaning patches were. I would expect that kind of filth in a powder burner, but not a PCP rifle. Is this normal? Is it just lead residue? Is there something I should be concerned about? Is it possible that dirty oil from my Yong Heng compressor works its way into the reservoir and then into the barrel?

Highly doubtful oil from your Yong heng migrated all the way to the barrel, most likely lead dust.

Lead dust, release agent from the pellet manufacturing process, Graphite is used on some pellets. Ever have dirty fingers after handing pellets? Gets in the barrel too. Nothing to worry about.

The barrel may have already been dirty from the manufacturer. Most guns ship with a barrel full of gunk left over from machine work.

I put a 25 caliber JSB up on my desk and after a month its as black as can be,
They do not turn black in the tin, ? I wonder if the black in the barrel is like my pellet?

it was more then likely that dirty from the factory

A lilte off topic but lead pencils have never been made of lead
If you do a search on the internet, you will find the reason why it is called lead pencil.

just remember you don't have to clean it every time after you shoot it like a powder burner

When your accuracy seems to start getting a bit erratic, a light wd-40 pass will fix you right up.
