I had experimented with NSA 250/29g. wasn't' impressed , figured to give them up.

I got a feather side ways and ordered the Heavy Superior barrel.

Just got my new Superior Heavy 700m 25 for Annie.

cleaner it and installed it. went out and sighted it in @ 50yds. "

Hoo haw. Dead on (once I sighted it in)

NSA shooting 939 literally 1/2"

FX Hybrid 979. 1" group

Mark II 33.95 893. not so great Not same POI. down and left about and inch.

I've still got a lot of shooting to do.. A day @ the 100+ range and then we'll start to figure it out. I don't want to lose my pellet functionality. I was shooting on max with reg @ 110.

I'll play with wheel and try some 25g jsb and fx pellet.

Needless to say, I am pleasantly surprised. and would say to anyone thinking of :sluggin" and is holding off on will it work. I'd say jump./

I think FX is really starting to get these liners dialed in. Especially with the .25 cal which never got the research behind it like he .22 slug liners did(straight from an insider at FX). When I got my first slug liner a couple of years ago, I had to really work to get slugs to shoot. As they produce more and tinker with the designs, they’re getting more and more accurate, consistent and easier to tune, and the slugs are getting better and better too.

In the beginning, I would have never given a slug a chance against a pellet inside a hundred yards. I read a post from Centercut the other day comparing slugs accuracy vs. pellets and had to agree. I wouldn’t have just a short time ago! My 700mm slug liner A is awesome with VK slugs and 33.95 JSB’s and share the same poi at 50yds. The standard Superior liner and FX Hybrids is seriously capable of 1/2” 100 yd groups and 1” groups over and over at 100yds. without really having to try hard. Just 6 months ago I didn’t really believe claims like that because a I had tried almost every slug available, many not available, along with all of the FX liners up to that point and had never seen any results like that. Here and there yes but not 5 shot groups, consistently. Random fliers that ruined groups were just too common with the early slug liners and slugs. Not to say it couldn’t happen but the results of my testing we’re pretty conclusive. I knew what worked and what didn’t and what each slug and liner were capable of. I haven’t purchased a heavy Superior liner yet but people who know how to shoot and who’s opinions I trust have told me both the Superior Heavy and the JSB slugs are phenomenal. We’ll soon see. It’s only going to get better and better in the near future!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

What liner were you using prior to superior heavy the Slug liner or standard superior? I have a .25 superior heavy that I havent tried yet. I’ve been told over and over that it won’t shoot any better (maybe worse) than a standard superior liner with slugs less than 36gr. But I like to do my own testing and have heard from others like you that it did shoot better with NSA 29’s.

Thanks for sharing!

The first was a 600mm slug liner, then the Slug A and standard Superior. I haven’t shot the Superior heavy so I can’t speak to that. I did a ton of testing with the Slug A liner, it’s my favorite by far. It will shoot the 29gr. I didn’t have much luck with many slugs in the standard Superior liner except with the FX Hybrids and man did it shoot those well. Better than any slug I’ve ever tested. I shot some 5 shot, 1/2” groups at 100yds and 1” groups over and over consistently. I wouldn’t have thought that to be possible even like 6 months ago. The problem for me however, is that I also like to shoot pellets and my Superior liner was no where near as accurate with the 33.95’s as the slug A liner. The slug A liner will shoot the VK 31.5, 32.8 and 34gr slugs extremely well, the 33.95 pellets better than any other barrel I’ve tried and it also shoots the NSA 29, 29.5, 36.2 and 38gr. very well. I didn’t have much luck with the 33.5gr NSA but a lot of guys have.

Below are two groups I shot today while trying to decide between the 33.95gr MKI and MKII pellets. They both shot great but the MKII shot a little better. These are 10 shot groups at 80yds. The 32.8gr VK will almost shoot this accurately out of this barrel too and they have almost identical. POI out to 50yds. This is why I use the slug A liner. My thumbnail is 5/8” for reference. The first group is about 1/2” the other about 5/8”. I haven’t tested the JSB 33.95 KO’s yet but they should be here tomorrow. I‘ve talked to Joe I. multiple times and I’ve been told they shoot extremely well out of the slug A too. I’ll let you know.

I haven’t been testing nearly as many slugs lately as I have over the past 2 years and don’t remember all of the details of everything, but I have substantial notes. If you do get a Slug A liner and want specifics, just drop me a private message and I can point you in the right direction. Otherwise, I’d use the FX Hybrids with the Superior and try something like the 38gr NSA or 40gr VK in the Superior heavy. Don’t get discouraged, slug testing can be a long drawn out process. Just go slow and take lots of notes. Let me know, I’ll help if I can.

I hope I answered your question. Have a great Thanksgiving. Stoti

Weather turned off on me. Haven't gotten serious yet. I was using 700 STX. SHOT LIGHTS OUT! 2-3 " groups @ 160.mark II

Pellets no good. I just gotta hair! For 100 bucks and some slugs we can play a whole (hole) new game.

I'll get out today and play. Should be interesting. No heavy slugs yet. Order after I see what these shoot like! Neilson 29. Fx hybrid was second place on first try. Today will be farther out and a little more controlled for fairness.
