While this thing loads, let me say this was more a speed shoot than for precision. 3 are cloverleafed & 2 are out. 
Open sights, John Thomas tuned R1 .22 at 40 yards.

Okay, it's uploaded & I'm not too happy with 3 within 1". 5 across 2 inches

Not very impressive. Let's try the open sight 48 .177 , HW30 .177 and a new target. All John in PA tuned springers with iron sights.

First, the tuned TO1 1986 West German John Thomas 48 sending CPHP 7.9's straight out of a tin.

Wow. That's horrible. Let's try the JSB 8.44'd

Well after bouncing back and forth with the different pellets and adjustment of sights, 7.9 CPHP at 40 yards. Those 3 around the triangle are my last 3 shots. 
Now for a new target and the HW30 .177 shooting on 2x magnification with JSB 8.44's. Head size .1765"

Orange target shot with .176"-.1765" JSB 8.44's from HW30 on 4x. Porch ceiling fan over me and winds from West, left to right. 

This circled indentation gives me a much better POA with open sights. So one more time with the HW30.

I could bring my last clean SS sheet out; but that target is being saved for something special.

Well that's all folks. The top two Picts are before my last try with the HW30 on paper and reflective SS sheet. All new .177 indents within black circle are from scoped HW. 
The other new holes are me trying iron sights again. 

All pellets hit, flatten & drop so I can pick up my mess.

I definitely need to adjust my iron sights for 40 yards if I'm to try this again.

Maybe I'll just try the asked about 25 yards as that, I guarantee will be holes touching. Once the sun comes up and shining directly on me, it's not fun anymore.

Dang. I didn’t expect the hw30 to be flattening those pellets like that at that distance. Looked like a fun day of shooting. Did you use standard iron sights or do you use some sort of special aftermarket sights I’m unaware of? Me personally, id for sure move to 25 next time, for peace of mind if nothing else

I have the most “fun” shooting a hard-to-cock break barrel with iron sights, that’d be my preference for fun plinking. The cocking effort might help with some anger issues -although I’m not sure I’d ever admit to others or myself that a gun is hard to cock- and the iron sights help me from becoming compulsive regarding POA. I think an R1 would be a great choice.

I do file my front "I" insert to a very fine inverted V.

On the RWS front post, I've taken a fine V file and made a notch .1" deep. Close targets sit across the top, further sit in the V.

I know all 3 of those guns can do dime to hole in hole at 32 yards. It's just me playing around.

On the flattening of those pellets. Even at 6-7ft/lbs. Also remember that SS sheet is slightly flexible. If shooting hard stationary target I had nothing to pick up even at 75 yards. Disintegration occurs.

Just ordered a RWS 48, I’d be interested in a close up picture of your front sight, as I’m not planning to mount a scope at this time I want to stick with the open sights.

The front sight is a fat, really fat blade, you could and should get some small files and reduce the profile. I replaced one with a Diana hooded sight , but you both.
