Who makes the finest mil/windage reticle in a scope that tracks?

I'm looking for the finest illuminated reticle.
She's mostly going to be a set & forget scope. Utilizing the holdover mostly & then an adjustable riser or rings with hopefully no slop.

I do like SWFA for hollow Diamond reticle and the amount of travel, tracks 100%. Only thing keeping me from getting another, is SWFA needs to offer illumination on a etched glass reticle and hopefully add windage marks to his reticles. I very well may jump for the 3-15 HD SS, if above things were added. I have no problem paying up to 2K for this purpose if scope ticks every box. Used from a trustworthy person here is fine also.

I don't really need "high" magnification. I don't want FFP as I enjoy reducing magnification and using hash/holdover. Gonna have her zeroed at 200 most likely so mils up & down for close, out to 400yrds or so.

James,

Check out Joe Wayne Rea on YouTube, Cyclops Video. 90% of his channel is no BS scope reviews, and he has a LOT of them. You can probably find, through Joe's reccomended scopes, something that will fit your bill for a LOT less than 2k. In fact, I'll bet you can find something WELL under 1k. Joe ABUSES AND RAPES his test scopes, so you don't have to.....

It is also noticeably clearer and brighter than all of the Barra brand scopes and Alpha6s compared to. (Sorry! NOT Sorry!) Only negative is a 25 yard minimum focus but the power can be backed down for close range work.

I really don't like FFP scopes but this one is REALLY GOOD and visible at the lowest magnification and better (easier to see) than my March-F and a much better scope than my more expensive Nightforce SHV 4-20x56 that also has a 25 yard focus. There is no point in wasting your money on a Nightforce SHV compared to this scope.

I wish that scope tracking was part of the technical details list that scope manufacturers offer us on their websites, like "turret repeatability with less than 2% error when making 10mil changes".... 😟

The OP was also asking for another feature — a fine (thin) reticle (assuming he's talking about the thickness of the main crosshairs).

I found the following on my Scope Specs Lists (all 10y side parallax, exposed turrets, under $500/700, sorry that's how far my list goes, I've got to put a cap on it 😄):

▪0.02mil / 0.07moa thickness ➔ Sightron S-Tac 3-16x42 SFP No-IR 70moa adjstmnt. (c. $300).

▪Athlon Helos BTR 6-24x50 FFP IR Grid 60moa adjstmnt. (c. $450-500):

▪Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 FFP IR 85moa adjstmnt. (c. $630-670):

MIL version, w/ or w/o grid: 0.03mil / 0.10moa thickness

MOA version, w/ grid: 0.036mil / 0.12moa thickness

▪0.03mil / .11moa thickness ➔ Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x50 FFP IR MILorMOA Grid 110moa adjstmnt. (c. $700).

😄 There are plenty more scopes with reticles with

0.04mil / 0.14moa and

0.05mil / 0.17moa thickness.

Hope you'll find what you're looking for! 👍🏼

Matthias 😊

Odoyle,

you are the Price King! 👍🏼 That's are really good pice!

Some time ago I would have jumped on this one! 👍🏼 It checks all but one of my boxes....:

I now have come to appreciate the importance of a wider field of view, and most 6-24x have somewhere between 17-19ft (@ 100y). This one only has 16ft, and I really like to have at the very least about 25ft, and 30ft so much the better.

➔ That unfortunately eliminates 6--24x scopes for what I have in mind. (When I finally have the $$, it'll be a 4-24x, 4.5-27x, 5-25x, 5-30x).

Thanks for being such an ENABLER! 😄

"""I don't want FFP as I enjoy reducing magnification and using hash/holdover"""

An old sleeper the NF NXS 3-15x50. Available with several holdover reticles. Buy used for sub $1500 pricing. One of the most reliable scopes in the industry that made NF famous. There is also the 5.5-22 version. I've had both and back in the day they were "THE" ultimate scope to have 14 years ago as far as SFP.
