Many springers built in the UK are made for export and exceed the 12 ft-lb limits required for domestic use. To keep those guns legal, a weaker spring could be used, but that would increase lock time and hold sensitivity. By shortening the stroke less air is produced but without the detriments of just installing a less powerful spring.
I'm in the UK and shoot a sub 12 ft lb TX200. I have changed the piston latch rod for a 14mm longer one, fitted delrin spring guide and top hat, lightened the piston, changed the spring and use an Aussie seal.
When it's cocked it only engages on the 1st notch of the bear trap - the underlever doesn't go back as far.
What has it done for the shooting cycle? It has a faster lock time and is less hold sensitive. Shot to shot consistency is easier than standard.
Currently got it set at 10.5 ft lbs. Sweet rifle to shoot.
