Which would you buy?

If you get a RAW, Id recommend you get it in the hp .22, request Martin pumps it up to 965 FPS with the montster's. The .22 JSB 25.4gr monsters have a extent BC. The Raw's are know for there .22's

+1

I have a RAW HM1000x HP .22 from Martin and had a .30 cal barrel also. I tried em’ both and for me, it shoots more accurately with the .22 Poly barrel with the MRDs at 930 FPS. You can squeak out a bit more velocity by externally adjusting the HST. But, 935 FPS with that Poly barrel is very accurate. I did get it to about 947 FPS, but went back down to 930-935 FPS. Also had a .25 RW Safari and exchanged that for the .22 HP ART barrel.

I went back to the HP .22 caliber barrels because they were more accurate, cheaper ammo, more variety of ammo, much more air efficient and the BC with pellets and certain slugs was solid. I don’t think you are sacrificing much by going with a .22 Cal HP RAW

Let us know what you buy.

I have a .25 RAW HM1000X sold to me new and tuned by Ken Hicks at SPAW. It is a superbly accurate weapon and built like a tank. Compared to my other rifles such as my Daystate Red Wolf, it is much more simple in design and built like a tank. After extensive testing, I can shoot the JSB King Heavy 33.95s or NSA 250-HS-HP-DB-26.8 slugs equally effectively.

I chose the .25 as I already owned multiple highly accurate .22s.

I also recommend the RAW HMx LRT in .22. Picked one up from Ken Hicks of SPAW tuned to shoot JSB 18gr @ 950fps and NSA 17.5 gr .2175 @ 930fps as it saves air (70 shots thereabouts) and is dead nuts accurate out to 80yds with these. Mines a Chassis model. Can bump up the power easily with a few turns of the HS. Incredible triggers.

Ranchibi,

you need to take out some critters with that beauty.

Want to thank all of you for your opinions, and all of you recommended my choice, the RAW. I have to agree here with O'doyle, and went with the .25 with the camo stock. I have mostly .25's in my inventory, and have plenty of ammo to go now. After having watched every review I could find, it appears that O'doyle is right about shooting the heavier pellets, and I will have to buy some more of those, as most of my inventory is in the 25 gr. I really like what the .25 does with critters over the .22. I shot a large groundhog at the lake last weekend with my Talon P (my lake gun), shooting the .25's at 935 fps. He was standing up, looking the opposite direction and when I shot him between the shoulders it literally knocked him off his feet. Looked like a movie shot as he fell on his face! I may switch the Talon P out next spring for my FX Wildcat III sniper in .25 as it is a little more accurate at longer distances than the TalonP. Have a new Athlon Midas Tac 6x24 coming for it as well. Have been very happy with the Athlons I have on my 2 Veterans, and this is my first Midas Tac.

Sorry for the crude photos since my camera was accidentally used as a hockey puck. It sure slides real good over concrete though!

This one is a 25 HMX1000 that's crazy quiet with a custom AZ full shroud. Below that is another 25 HMX1000 is a not as quiet but just as deadly. Both shoot the JSB 25.39gr Kings extremely well enough out to 100 yards and beyond even in mild winds. I have 2 Redwolf HPs in 22 so no need to show off my 22 HMX1000 (Have one in 22 also though dont use it as much as my RWs).

Have you ever considered adopting someone older than you are? Because I'd seriously like to inherit your stash on the off-chance you run into a bridge abutment or go volcano bungee jumping or whatever ...
