Which Model Maximus .22 Did I Order?

Looks like you got the standard model. It will probably do around 800 fps with 14.3 gr. pellets, which will be more than enough power for rabbits. The best pellet is the one most accurate in YOUR rifle. Try Crosman premier domes or hollow points (often available locally in big box stores) or JSB 15.9 or 18.1 gr. (available online). To quiet it down TKO Airguns makes a moderator for that gun. You'll need to remove the front sight to use the moderator. Use a pull-through cleaner and patches to clean the bore when you first get it-there's often preservative crud in there. O'doyle may chime in with a cheaper moderator alternative. Lots of people hate the trigger-there are modifications out there to improve it or if you really like the gun you can get a Crosman Challenger trigger from Crosman and fit it to the Maximus. Shoot it a while first and then decide.

Since you mentioned you're new to airguns-if you get a scope, get one with adjustable parallax that will focus down to 10 yards. Front or side focus are both good. A centerfire scope will be useless for the close range hunting you'll be doing. The Maximus has dovetail grooves for the rings, not Weaver/picatinny so get dovetail rings for whatever scope you use.

Best shot placement on rabbits in my experience is between the eye and ear-they'll usually not move far when hit there, and it leaves the meat intact.

Are you still working as a Hardhat diver ?

Welcome and Merry Christmas!

PS-I just saw the post below mine-the TKO moderator slips over the barrel and is held on with a grub screw, so it will work on your gun. Here's a link to TKO

Sorry my friend, you did not order the "Hunter" you got the standard.

Hunter has a 1/2x20 screw off end cap.

Cancel the order and get a "hunter" or something else like an Air Venturi Avenger.

The Hunter is a spring gun as far as I can tell and requires no pump or compressor. Spring guns are inherently more difficult to shoot than the PCP guns because of the recoil caused by the large spring that powers them.

Edit; Guess there is a Maximus Hunter PCP gun as well it did not show up on the Crosman site.

The PCP gun you bought requires a pump or compressor to fill it. Cheap chines pumps can be had for $40-$60. A cheap Chinese compressor, which I also would recommend, will cost you around $300.

The Yong Heng is the best around for under $1000

The Yong Heng "simple version" least expensive does not have a water separator you need one.

The "auto stop" version shuts off near 3000psi.

So you likely want the "Hardcover" or 'Set pressure' versions your choice on the 110V or 220V.

Keep them cool, the oil topped off, to the red circle in the sight glass and don't fill past their spec which I think is 4350psi, a little less is better than the max, and the Yong Heng should last for years unless you get a bad one.

Its a 2000psi PCP.

Price appears to be going up now for the second time in less than a week now currently priced at $154.99.

No longer $134.99. Nor $145.99.

I just paid $100 plus shipping for a lightly used MAXIMUS HUNTER last week. THIS ONE IS SPECIFICALLY A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME That I am actually thrilled and really anxious to get believe it or not even more so than my Daystate Renegade I just received to be HONEST!!! Nothing with wings will be safe out to 80 yards if it's as accurate as my regular NON HUNTER model Maximus. I really appreciate how light these guns are and the 2000psi fill pressure matter of fact I recently bought another Crosman Challenger 10 meter match PCP 2000psi fill gun too. Nothing with wings will be safe out to 35 yards with this one. Probanly bump it up with a quick and simple TP swap to shoot 65 - 75 yards later.

Yup, I found it elsewhere it has the 6x40 Centerpoint scope and the adapter on the barrel with 1/2x20 threads for a moderator. I got my plain Jane Maximus before the prices went up.

Cheaper at Crosman $164.99 with AGNATION 25% discount code when they got them in stock.

Their website has incorrect item when you click it best to phone them. Plus why no free shipping best to call in your order and find out.

This appears to now be the better deal than Midway now considering 6x scope and rings for $10.00 price difference.

.

The plain one with open sights is the same price too. $164.99 with the AGNATION discount. Midway is cheaper IF Crosman no longer offers free shipping.
