Which gauge do u trust more? Actual tank valve? Tank adapter valve gauge? Or compressor gauge? Alk 3 gave different readings. The actual tank valve is the fireman /oe gauge. It always reads higher than the other 2.
It’s actually a really good question. I have wondered about this for a long time, given the variety of air gun bottle gauges, various fill tank valves, etc. Agree with Long_Gun.
I recently bought a new compressor ( Coltri ICON MCH-6 ) and was filling both a 6.8L Acecare and a 9L Great White fill tank(s). My compressor has an auto shutoff when the compressor gauge needle hits 4620 psi approximately. Let’s call it 4700 psi. Have checked it several times, and it always shuts off compressor at this same reading.
When I check my tank pressure gauge on the GW, it shows 4700 psi. Then, I got out my Dive Shop SCUBA high grade pressure gauge, and it too showed exactly 4700 psi.
Checked the 6.8L tank pressure gauge and it showed 4600 psi on the fill valve tank gauge.
So, I default to both my compressor high quality gauge and my tank pressure gauge, as long as they are very close in the measurement. This is especially true if they are high quality tank valves.
