Which compressor do you like best?

So if nitrogen can be used in a PCP would it be possible to charge a PCP with the Umarex canisters. If an adapter was made then a hunter could carry a few small canisters. I mean at the cost of 2 , and not have to use the Nitro gun.
If it was already a bottle gun a simple adapter could work but would be a really bad option, for price, design, and shot count, it's a waste of resources too. If you want to do it still, ask DonnyFL if he would make an adapter. I don't know if he works with steel though.

Edit: Look below, Post #64, your answer

The main important is maintenance

And I believe I have over thousand pieces of orings for all my guns and projects. Hoping that I am set for a life ;)
Yes, the virtue of over buying. You have PLENTY of spares. I have lots of those black and orange storage boxes.

This is just 1 part of 1 set of 3 wall shelves I've built to hold my excessive purchases.

Pretty sure umarex has an adapter coming out soon they just released at shot show.

I believe that I saw the same thing, somewhere, probably the Umarex catalog. The catalog can be viewed as a PDF on Hard Air Magazines website.

Yup! Page five.

The little black compressor (which I reference as GX CS1- clone) are sold under numerous labels, there are Yong Heng and Yong Heng clones, plus a bunch of others.

The GX CS1-type use an electric motor and gear reduction unit that looks like GX CS2 & GX CS3, however the compressor section is very different.

Yong Heng and various clones look similar from the outside but the high-pressure section can be quite different.

The remainder of the examples are unknown to me, so no idea about their construction.

I have taken photos of several types of compressors and these can allow various compressors to be compared. Perhaps we should start a thread to show the internal construction of some of the compressors on the market?

As for which compressor to buy, that depends on one's intended usage, budget, amount of use, and vessel volumes to be filled.

I started out with Yong Heng clones and bought some Yong Hengs, (5 in total) added some small bottles, moved onto a 45-minute SCBA tank, then replaced all of YHs with a GX CS3 and a Nuoge (GX CS1-type) which is my backup in case the CS3 fails at the range.

I shoot about 25,000 full power .22 pellets per year, on a one-day-per week shooting schedule.

I shoot at our club's range where we have a shooting shelter, benches and AC power. The GX CS3 is so much simpler and more portable, without the need to fill a tank/SCBA bottle that I wish that I had begun with that system.

We have had a couple of power failures at the range, so I powered the CS3 from a vehicle. I couldn't fill my guns for a 6-1/2 day of shooting, from one 45-minute SCBA, so would require (2) and also transport high pressure vessels in the passenger compartment of a vehicle, which I find unsafe.

The point that I am attempting to illustrate is that the blend of factors needing to be appreciated will make someone's ideal solution, someone else's worst possible choice.

If you're on a budget or need portability, GX CS4 or CS4-i. If you have a few extra $$ to spend, and want a faster fill but without being portable, GX E5K2 FTW.
If this sounds adversarial, I aplogize because I am only asking: What do you consider to be the weight limit for "portable"?

I've had a YH with closed loop cooling ~65 pounds which I could carry around but not really portable. Ditto, my New Warrior (Benjamin Recharge 4500) @ 51 pounds. My GX CS3 is what I consider to be on the heavy end of portable @ 19 pounds, but my Nuoge (GX CS1 clone) @ 11 pounds is "portable".

Again, not challenging your definition, simply interested in how others compare portable to not portable.

Not adversarial at all, and it's a fair question.

I consider the CS4/CS4-i at 29 lbs to be portable. The E5K2 at 106 lbs, not so much. Just my opinion, of course.

Thanks for the context. I find that these groups, by their nature, tend to go over and over the same issues, generally without context or stating criteria. No one seems to be interest in cooperating to develop decision trees to help to make good, individual decisions. Just people.

Like many airgunners, I started out with incomplete perspective as to what I wanted to accomplish and spend a lot of effort and money until I finally found the present direction which fulfills my wants but would be a bad strategy for others.

Yes, my experience on here has been similar. Have been banned from a thread because I upset an Alkin owner with a negative comment about them, mostly due to my not owning one. Ridiculous, IMO. Why not let the post stand on its own merit, and allow each reader to judge based on their perspective?

A tad more adversarial than I prefer, that's why I don't post much here any more.
