Which airgun..

Hello all, Im new to this forum so I hope this is the right area to post something like this. I want to get back into airgun hunting because it seems to give the most excitement to any small game hunt. Ive owned .25 cal marauders, Trail NP's, and a game swarm. I want to get back into the sport with a good .22 break barrel. Ive been looking at the Gamo swarm magnum, the regular gamo magnum, or the Trail NP XL 22 which I would put a GRT III trigger in. Of the guns given, what would you guys choose and why? Is there any other break barrel 22 you guys would recommend within the $300 range?

There are much better choices but not in your price range. The Benjamin Trail is going to be hard to shoot accurately. If you are content to try the Gamo Swarm Maxxim multi shot break barrel go to your local Walmart and buy one and save your receipt and return it if it doesn't suit your needs but don't modify it unless you are sure you want to keep it and be sure to note their return period and mark it on your calendar.

Since you mentioned you had a 25 Marauder, you will be taking a big step backwards by going with a breakbarrel of any kind regardless of price.

I would suggest buying a 22 Maximus Hunter (with the threaded barrel end) using the AGN 25% off discount code direct from Crosman online, buy a cheap hand pump (with good reviews) from Ebay which would bring you at $240 thereabouts to shoot with open sights or add a Bug Buster mildot 3-9x which would bring you to your $300 budget. Add a $75 TKO if quiet is needed.

I suggest the Maximus Hunter because of its low starting fill pressure which would make it easy to pump. A trigger mod would be just about the only thing left to do which will cost you next to nothing when you lookup Air Gun Depot Fortitute trigger mod on YouTube.

You may as well get a hunting gun that is easier to shoot accurately which would enable longer distance and more humane shooting.

+1 3 times the price but 10 times the quality.

If you aren't opposed to buying used I would be on the lookout for a nice HW in the classifieds (maybe a WTB ad?). You may even get one that has been tuned and another bonus, you'll already know what it's favorite pellet is.😉
