Between hoarders and new shooters, then the regulars there's just not enough to keep up with demand. Same with firearm and rimfire ammunition

walmart stocks 177 and 22 premeirs regularly .. ive bought a couple 177 guns specifically because im not paying 25+ for a freakin tin of pellets to burn pretty much ever .. the larger guns are for 'money shots' only for the time being ...

Sitting in one of the 15 cargo ships here at the port of Oakland, CA past weeks still... waiting to be unloaded 
Kidding aside, I agree with @Dairyboy . Aside from that there definitely is a backup in general cargo to be unloaded as I see here at the port of Oakland (or loaded because of those same containers still to be unloaded, lol). Multiply that by other ports around the world... and we have a backup. And based on an ad that a friend send me recently, offering truck drivers $14K/week; sounds like the general backup of things is just about right.

I had a healthy supply before covid and didn't but any for the past year. I guess there are a lot of new shooters buying them and a lot of hoarders.

Just got a track number on 8 tins JSB 34gr mkIIs this morning. They are rolling out, slowly. Tried some Daystate Rangemaster King 25.4s recently, and seemingly shoot better than the JSB/FX variants from my TalonP and RAW. Trying the Rangemaster Emperor 34 gr later today. Received 4 tins each last week. Gonna try them again today.
Availability of pellets is second to tracking down reasonable shipping rates to me. Vendors like PA/AGD are out because they don't ship flat rate (30$ ship for 8 tins), whereas savvy vendors will ship me 8 tins for 8$ (AoA, Trenier, &c.).

Shipping is a factor, I always order $200 or so. Shipping is usually free. I do the math between $7 freight @ trenier and free freight/ discount @ PA. Usually comes out close.
Notice UA limited to 5 tins. I've tuned impact to 38 NSA. may do the same for maverick, however it's a compact . It shoots well to over a 100!

Supply and demand. I have a decent stash (not hoarder level). I have limited my shooting right now due to the onset of rising temps here in AZ. I used to buy a batch from PA every now and then and take advantage of the buy 3 get 1 free through PA. When I say every now and then I mean like once every few months. I dont shoot nearly as much as alot of you guys do. Just dont always have the time. Once I hit that free shipping at $150 I would just cash out. Usually would get a variety between .177, .22, and .25. As of now if I do any shooting its with slugs. They seem to be easy to be had. As far as the hoarders... They are out there. This goes for powder burner ammo as well. These jacks often times turn around and sell the stuff for far more. This is a serious issue in other areas as well. For example... I want to upgrade my video card in my gamming PC. Not gonna happen. Check out whats going on there. $800 - $1000 graphics cards are going for upwards of $3000 or more. Scalpers and crypto-currency miners doing major damage to the PC gamming world. Hell, Sony just announced that the out of stock issues with the PS5 would last all the way into 2022. Again, this is mostly related to scalpers. Yes there are other things to factor in but the big issue is the a-holes who see a profit to be made. They can care less who they ruin hobbies for.

I have seen multiple places limited to 5 tins of the same pellet. Just curious but what is considered hoarder level? I have been considering getting a target that will collect lead but have not really found anything to use to make diabolo pellets, everything seems to be toward slugs.

Looks like Field Supply has a limited selection of Hatsan and H&N. I did find the .25 H&N Crow Magnums there, ordered five tins. Stated they were in stock so we will see.
