Where can I send my fx impact for tuning?

Hey I am new here. I have been out of the airgun game for some time. I used to frequent the yellow forum back in the day but since have been out of airgunning. I recently got back into airguns and purchased and FX impact .25 with a 700mm STX barrel. I am having some real trouble getting it to shoot how I believe it should. (.75-1” at 50 yards.) apparently I don’t have the time required to get the gun shooting the way it should. Is there anyone I can send this rifle off to in order to have it tuned? Thanks for any input I appreciate it.

Thanks guys. Maybe I’ll give it another go. I have tried everything from around 800fps all the way up to the high 900s I have tried jsb exacts, heavys and mkII. I also tried removing the orings from around the barrel liner. I just can’t get good results. It could be shooter error but I have a hard time believing that since I don’t seem to have issues like this with any other rifles I own or have owned. I have already spoke with fx USA, they did tell me to send the rifle back. I’m just not sure this is going to produce the fine tuned results I desire. I sent an email off to Ernest, we will see if he can work me in. If not maybe I’ll keep trying or possibly ship it off to fx USA. Buying a 2k rifle and not having it shoot well is a frustrating thing..

Something about this doesnt seem right to me. Is anybody else thinking user error here? That gun will shoot nickel sized groups, or better depending on conditions, at 50 yards, straight out of the box. One way to tell what your problem is, is to shoot at 25 yards. New user buys expensive airgun. New user then puts targets out at 50 yards expecting hole for hole groups. Slight shifting easterly winds prevent 1/4 inch groups because new user doesn't know how to dope. New user gets .75 inch groups, immediately blames gun, instead of blaming himself which is where the blame should be put. Instead, new gun goes back to manufacturer who then shoot gun indoors, see that theres nothing wrong with it.......do nothing to gun,...........send gun back to new user who doesn't know how to get .25 inch groups and gets .75 to one inch groups.........all the while blaming the gun and manufacturer.

Dear new user, shooting at 50 yards is an entirely different ball game than shooting at 25 yards. You should never test inherent accuracy at 50 yards. The slightest puff of wind can be the difference between a .25 inch grouping and a 1.25 inch grouping. It doesnt matter how much you spent on the gun. I could show you a 6 shot .25 of an inch grouping that was shot on 9/2/2018. This past Sunday. It was shot with a gun that cost less than half of what you paid for your gun. Non Regulated, Mechanical, Daystate Regal XL. So here's what happens with cases like yours. You send the gun back, manufacturer does nothing to the gun after they determine that the gun is fine. They send the gun back to you.....so you have one of those good days and you get these 1/2 inch groups........all of a sudden its a miracle, next thing you know, 2000+ dollar gun is the best shooting gun in the world. My best guess here is your problem is not the gun. Your problem is you and not knowing how to get the spectacular groupings you're looking for. I could show you how and the more I show you the less you will be blaming expensive airguns. If you don't believe me, contact TommyB on this forum. The bottom line here is, it's you......not the gun.

Some might be asking themselves, " Hmm who is this guy and how in the heck does he know there's nothing wrong with the gun, who does he think he is?" Yeah I know. How do I know......well because I have seen this mistake from new users for over 15 years. It's always the same thing. Exactly. The user sends me the gun, I put it on the bench outside. Next thing you know it's clipping aspirins at 50 yards all day long, in the wind, in the calm, at night, hot , cold,......Seen it a hundred times and had the guns in my hands.

At least he didn't buy a piece of crap Gamo Urban. Got him a nice gun instead of polishing a turd.

I guess I’m not sure whether to take offense to this or not. I wasn’t aware that I had to state my background in order to clear the fact that it’s probably not user error. Over the years I have owned several airguns including multiple air arms, multiple custom crossmans, an fx cyclone, and a few lower end guns. I also regularly shoot powder burners to 1k+. I understand that none of the above makes me a professional in doping for conditions but I think I have a pretty good understanding of the concept. Then again none of this really plays a roll in the fact the gun won’t shoot when there 0-1 mph wind between me and the target. All my shooting is done along a barn and a wood line that sits in a valley. Also does your crosswind theory explain vertical stringing even tho the gun produces shot strings with less than a 5fps ES? If this is the quality of response I get here asking for help I guess I will kindly see my way out and you continue believing that there is no possible way an impact could be flawed or I can’t get it tuned right.

Sir, you are shooting a Diablo waisted pellet. Not a bullet. The effects of a 1 mph wind will make a difference. If and when you think there is no wind at all, light a piece of incense and watch the smoke. If this offends you, grow a pair. I am telling you what Ive seen and experienced first hand. I would encourage you to spot a target at 25 yards, if it makes one hole at 25 yards, there is no problem with that gun at all. Now , you can either be offended by this, or try it. A common mistake is to test a gun at extended ranges for accuracy. Too much can happen during the flight path. As to the vertical stringing: THAT usually happens with firearms when a barrel heats up. Is your barrel heating up? We know the answer to that question, don't we? Just try it. And stop whining for Gods sake. Im trying to help you.

Thanks for the advice. I have also shot the gun at 25 & 30 yards in my barn so wind is not a factor. it’ll do around a half inch, this is not acceptable. Also as far as cleaning the gun, that was the first thing I did when I inboxed it. For anyone that was wondering it was absolutely filthy right out of the box. I’m just going to go ahead and assume that shootistX is a far better shooter than myself and obviously has infinitely more knowledge than me. Sorry for being a whiner guys, we aren’t all as tough and perfect as him. I really hate to feel like I’m rubbing people wrong on my first post but this guy is something else. Feel free to go ahead and move along I think you have proved your superiority here. As for everyone else thank you for the responses. It seems I have covered most of the bases in trying to get the gun to perform. I think it’s time to leave this one to someone who has a lot more time to dedicate to getting this rifle shooting as it should than I have.

Since you have tried all the suggestions and have a proven track of shooting, I'll agree with you that the gun may need to be checked by an FX Pro. I am mostly concerned for you because I am also a new FX Impact X owner know the feeling. Please let us know the outcome of the Impact when it gets resolved. Thanks and all the best with it.

Not that I am an expert, but a puff of wind with a high powered .25 or .30 (thats what I have for impact) shouldn't affect the grouping as much as you stated.. at least it hasn't for me and all the people I talk to. With a .177 or .22 sure, maybe, but my gun came out of the box doing pretty solid groups at 50 yards without me being a great shot.

The other thing is it wouldn't hurt to scratch that off the list of things that could be wrong. Could be a burr in the transfer port or bent probe etc... besides which, a nice tune will always make it better than it is today anyway.

SCG... don’t let someone here discourage you. There may very well be some changes that can be made to the gun that will make all the difference for you.

My understanding is that the Impact is a very highly tweakable rifle and that makes it susceptible to changes that can be disconcerting, to say the least.

You can either spend some more time and effort dialing down and tweaking, or... get it into the hands of someone who is much more familiar with the tweaks and let them dial it in OR determine that there may be a problem that needs to be fixed. With so many possible variables in play... it’s tough to pin point any one factor.

If you are in warranty, FX-USA is the warranty center. If you are out of warranty, you might give AoA a try... those guys really know air rifles, especially FX rifles, and their customer service is awesome! (They are, BTW, the importer/distributor for FX rifles in the USA.)

Don’t get discouraged... keep at it, one way or another, and in the end all will turn out ok!

Hey I wanted to give everyone an update on my fx impact. After sending it back to FX USA the contacted me last week and told me that they could not get the gun to group at 40 yards and decided a new barrel was needed. I was just the unlucky one that received a rare lemon barrel. I received the rifle back yesterday and shot it a bit this morning, it seems to be shooting as it should be. Thanks everyone for the help! It is much appreciated.

It happens. I used to do a lot of bench rest shooting, used a lot of Schneider barrels with good success. Had my gunsmith chamber a new barrel for the season, and I couldn't get the thing to shoot, not for BR competition. It was maybe .5" groups at 100 yards in good conditions, way off from being any good. I called the smith, and he called Gary. (The smith trusted my shooting, and the barrel maker trusted the smith). We decided I'd use that barrel for a tomato stake, and he sent another barrel. It happens, no QC is perfect. Glad they got it fixed for you . I'm in NC, so if I ever buy an FX rifle, I'll be close to support. I'm an old-fashioned kind of guy, FX may be ahead of me in design and construction,
