Where are my .22 Cal friends?

I need some help friends... I'm moving into a Wildcat soon for the need of a better woods walking gun which is what I do 99% of the time. I currently have a .25 streamline and with a 6 inch huggett it's a bit long. I absolutely love the 25g jsb and it's capability hunting but if I'm doing this for "woods walking" the .25 Wildcat is only 8 inches shorter where the .22 Cal Wildcat is 17! inches shorter than my Streamline. I've never owned a .22 Cal PCP so I need some encouragement on what they are capable of. Any pics or stories will be greatly appreciated ! Either punching paper or hunting !

Thanks guys
Dan

What are you hunting when you go on your walkabouts? I love .22. It’s very capable of taking down a variety of pray. Not too much for birds. Not too little for small to medium pigs. Accuracy will be more important than anything. Check out the following guns: Cricket, Vulcan, Taipan, Edgun (either Leshiy or Matador) or Wildcat. Most Taipan owners are smitten with them. I have a Cricket Mini and would hunt about anything from a mouse to a medium pig with it. There is also a variety of pellets that could help get the job done. Need penetration? H/N Hornets or Polymags, general use Diabolos, etc.

I hunted a lot of woods in Minnesota with a .22 cal Benjamin pumper- plenty of power for critters.
A .25 will deflect less with a twig but you should be able to thread your shots through cleanly. Wind is not as much of a problem in woods either .22 is plenty. Plus, Nielsen is swaging some nice .22 conventional slugs that Matt dugger tested in a video that worked pretty well out of an FX. I’m not sure what you have to worry about at all. Can’t comment about bull pups never owned one. I do wonder how a bull pup would shoulder/carry with a sling though-they don’t look like they would be very comfortable to carry that way maybe someone can chime in on that. I get the length thing though.

"Grin_Reaver"Although hunting season is in full swing I would suggest carrying on with your streamline .25 and wait for the launch of new Fx Wildcat with barrel liners. It will give you extra options.
Is this in fact being released? Or is it speculation on your part? Waiting is Very Sound Advice regardless, Shot show is around the corner.

i would love to see where you saw this??? I have thought about the beautiful marriage is the Wildcat with the x barrels and maybe a power wheel haha but so far they are just my dreams. If this is true I would for sure wait

I have a WC in 22 and love it. Shoots 18.1 JSBs at 895FPS, Shoots its entire shot string into one round hole at 25 yards. Beer cans, water bottles at 100 yards are easy, 64 ounce jucie bottles at 180 -200 yards are fun too. Longest kill was a large squirrel at 90 yards, pellet was a pass through in the head. So far have about 4000 rounds through the gun and only had to replace one breech seal. With as much info on the net about servicing and maintaining the WC should be able to get many years of fun from her.

Only speaking tom the .22 part.

A well placed .22 from post any pre-charged air rifle will take down any airgun game. Know you rifle and skill level, with shot placement a full 600lb Hog will go down like a sack of flower.

.22 or even more in .25 the instant you swith to slug you need to same back drop as using a .22RF , you would hate to just glance a pine needle and then discover another hunters puckup truck was parked a 1/4 mile that direction. Just thought I should mention that for the newbies. One large reason I use airguns is the extra safety "pellets" offer.

When thinking "power" ( and I've no idea of your normal ranges) all the UK folks hunt Squirrel & rabbit & such out to 50+ meters using sub 12fpe rifles in both .177 and .22. Shot placement.
