When did FX NL mounts stop having the bottom adjustment screw?

I've seen FX No Limit 30mm to Dovetail & 30mm to Piccatinny with the bottom adjustment screw for easy change of height POI. The 1st ones I ever had were adjustable for perfect center of scope over bore alignment also. 


I recently got a pair of 30mm to Dovetail ones & no elevation adjustment screw. No bore adjustment screws for L-t-R. There is what could be a scope stop or height adjustment underneath the base, but it's not as easy as the one on side and it has no screw but it's threaded for them.

Why & when did they change this?

I bought both sets used. One has the adjustment screws for elevation & one set doesn't. Both are 30mm to Dovetail. Neither of the newest sets have any adjustment screws. 

Do the 1" to Dovetail ones have either adjustment screws or 1" to Piccatinny ones?

just got new 30mm dovetail for my crown no adjustment screws,,,the piccatinny-weaver ones i took off did???? another $69.00 down the drain!!

They started out with NO adjustment screw, then later copied the Sportsmatch mounts who originated it.

Tomco did a video on these and other NL rings a year or so back? They didn't have them then, none of mine have that either. Would be danged handy!!

I just checked the FX NL mounts I have, which I haven’t used still in packaging and they don’t have the screws either.

The adjust screw makes Sportsmatch superior IMHO. I have some Eagle Vision mounts that also don’t have an adjustment screw. The screw makes so much difference to precision adjustments, going back to a previous position.

Sounds like you might be describing having had the Sportsmatch ATP66 rather than FX no limits previously, especially considering your previous ones had the windage adjustment.

I have NL rings that have the elev. screw, and a few pairs that do not, but never had any that had wiindage adjustment that I can recall.



Went and checked, all my NL picatinny rings have the adjuster screw, while none of my dovetail NL rings have the screw.

To clarify because I have had several. One in trade, 2 bought used.

I'm trying to figure out what these are on the left. The FX in package on right, not as easily adjusted.

The ones on left are fully adjustable windage & elevation. I'm talking you turn the elevation screw in smallest amount, just pressure, not even a turn while the rifles in a padded gun vice (not a bench vice new members!) and you can watch your reticle dip below or move L/R of your last POI. 

So much easier. 
I do have the ability to set the less adjustable rings up close to what I want before hand and mark it. 

The things could be set up perfectly prehand but; you really need them to self adjust on the gun in their tilt or you face forcing a scope tube in directions it may not be meant to go. 

Thus, I do my measurements with feeler gauges, depth gauge, and use a very fine scribe or marker. Get them on there & get them in alignment but where I want. 


Whoever makes/made the set on the left, I would sell a PCP to buy a set for every PCP.

The BKL's are supposed to be self centering. Yeah, to your machined Dovetail. On a component rifle & a barrel that can't be indexed without a thimble this ain't a huge help if keeping scope centered is the goal. 


Luckily this Discovery was trued up long ago.

The rings on your bug buster are Millet Windage adjustable rings.

The BKL's are supposed to be self centering. Yeah, to your machined Dovetail. On a component rifle & a barrel that can't be indexed without a thimble this ain't a huge help if keeping scope centered is the goal.

Well I will say this guys.

rings are easier for fine adjustment when in a gun vice on a bench.

The FX No Limits name fits. These things have way more adjustment in heaight. I have my SWFA's optically centered & the FX rings will allow me a zero well over 100 yards.

The Sportsmatch ones allowed a 97-113 yard zero but I was running that SWFA bottomed out. So I had 10 mils holdover from a 97-113 yards depending on slug weight and speed. I had 27 mils on tap in turret. 450 yards wasn't out of the question.

I'm keeping my .22 hot rod slugger set for nothing past 300 and scope centered.

Gonna go with a Cold Shot riser for the .257 and these Sportsmatch rings. But that kind of puts a damper on the 34mm Bushnell I was looking at w/ H59 reticle. I don't think anyone but Talley, Kelby make fully adjustable in anything over 30mm.

They might be elevation only, VS Windage and elevation adjustable.

Yes, the price difference between the two models is rather dramatic, but they are pretty much Cadillac level as far as adjustability.

Using elevation compensating mounts that leave you dialing a lot of wind in to zero will limit your elevation range if you dial or click up.

Maybe not an issue depending on range, but have run into problems with that very scenario on PB set ups. It is more exaggerated in 1 inch tubes.
