Do you think that youtube air rifle reviewers are sent selected accurate shooting rifles to review or do you believe that they recieve and return inaccurate rifles like everybody else, seems that 50% are only ok shooting barrels, showing budget rifles doing 100 yard groups at an 1 inch is not believable unless it was picked best of 50 rifles. Regardless of break in, cleaning, trigger and ability cannot fix a poor barrel, whats your thought.

I would guess that they get paid one way or an other to say what they say.
Like how companies pay scientists to say vaccines/certain foods are safe and what not

I have only purchased a few PCP's and they were all accurate and trouble free out of the box. Maybe the industry has them figured out and it is true they all shoot so well? Unfortunately I do not have the time or the money to buy all the rifles myself. I only watch a few reviewers now, I do not need the latest and greatest.

Well if I’m at the factory and I’m choosing an early unit to send to a key influencer I would certainly test it a little more and make sure the stock isn’t the plainest piece of wood.

Now up the stakes a bunch and suddenly the key reviewer gets a hand selected example from maybe a dozen on hand in the factory because, well, it’d be bad business not to.

Absolutely. If I'm watching YouTube videos on something though chances are I've already bought it and I'm just getting my fix while I wait for it to come in. I may take bits and pieces from certain videos and reviewers but for the most part I take what they say with a grain of salt.

I’ll watch several reviewers, especially ones that have been around for a while. But I think AGN is actually a pretty good resource for my final choosing criteria. But there’s always the lemon that might arrive.
Just watched a review last night on a FX Wildcat. It appeared he bought the gun for his use. Wherever he got it from, they definitely didn’t test fire it like AoA does because the cocking lever wouldn’t go all the way back and then once he corrected that the magazine would not go in. He had to fix that as well. There’s no way the seller test fired his, and I find it hard to believe it left Sweden or FX USA like that. But stuff happens.
I love it in reviews when they are firing test groups and one of the shot ruins the group. The reviewer immediately says “ that was me”.

My dad was the trouble shooter in the family, always looking for the negative and I am afraid I learned some of that from him. When I look at reviews, of anything, I always focus on the negative reviews first. When I pay up for something I expect it to be good and I expect there to be good reviews. I am more interested in negative reviews from folks who have had an item for a while and experienced problems than positive reviews from folks who just opened the box. Of course, lemon-out-of-the-box reviews carry a lot of weight too. After all the negative I go back and digest the positive.

Yeah, the "that was me" doesn't cut it here either. I've watched errant pellets through my scope and said to myself "There is NO WAY that was me!" Ask the folks I shoot with, they'll tell ya I blame my equipment all the time, lol, but once in a while it really is the gun's or ammo's fault. Nothing is flawless.

I find it difficult to believe that a mfr. wouldn't do some basis testing before sending a gun out for review. Regardless, a one day test of a brand new gun doesn't say anything about long term dependability, parts availability, customer service, Etc.

I came across this yesterday, now this is what I call a test.

When i got my FX Maverick i was having problems, any sane person would have returned it.
The .177 rifle came set to 90 bar and hammer spring #7 where it shot 570 or so FPS with 13 grain pellets, and did so like a laser i might add.
BUT ! i did not get a blowpipe i got a high power airgun and of course wanted to sling my .177 lead faster, that was also possible and with a OK shot string, but now the gun was all over the place, with holes on 50 M changing 1" this way then 1" that way and anything in between.
Only pellet it would shoot fast was the 16 gr Beasts, those was like a laser at 50 M

I changed to a 700 mm barrel ( +100 mm ) when i could and this changed things, even if i have not shot all my pellets i do know the desired Monster redesigns i had problems with, they flew just fine now, and the slugs i now mainly shoot in the Maverick,,,,,, very enjoyable out to 100 M at least.

I am pretty sure someone shot my Maverick before i got it, and i doubt it was a Dane as i was at the shop hours after those rifles landed there for the first time.
But the first think i did comming home was cleaning it, and my patches said this rifle have been shot for damn sure. ( unless FX use crude oil / lead mix to preserve the barrels )

if i was a manufacturer sending one to be advertized id hand select it and tune it .. of course thats exactly what happens ... also if i was getting them for free id be sure to only show the good stuff with maybe a non serious gripe thrown in to make it believable .. after all, since i dont work making videos is my cash cow lol ..

I like all the reviews, but the guys that paid their hard earned money for guns get my attention and approval. I’d trust the guys responding on this thread about a gun more than some reviewers.

I read Reviews,I can get to the point a lot sooner and too many uTube reviews are ill-done.
Utube can be good to watch and see how things are modified or put together.
As Always I never take anyone's opinion as gospel,I get as many opinions as possible on the subject.
Yes,I do think many utubers get a kickback,some even say so .
Agree,that ounce you get "the hang" of some posters on this site you can get great info.
.When I say "the hang" = I would say 27.67% know what the are talking about and most are focusing on their learning towards what they like.
This is very useful when you know who they are and why and what are their likes.

One thing not yet mentioned, sometimes the shooter that receives the gun says "not accurate" but then doesn't have the skill to shoot those groups in the first place. I sell some new guns from Precision Airgun Distribution (PAD), which is AoA's wholesale distributor. A few years ago, when I started, I had the guns drop shipped to the buyer.
That just didn't sit well with me, since complaints can be (not always) user error induced. It doesn't work right, or its not accurate, or any other numerous statements... So, after going through that a couple times, I started having the guns drop shipped to my house, and I took the guns, cleaned and tuned them, then shot them for an hour or so before I shipped them out. It made a world of difference to say - I just shot that gun two days ago and tuned it for X, and it shot Y ten shot group at 50 yards.
I also do this with all the used guns I buy, clean, tune, shoot and sell. It makes a WORLD of difference...
