What’s your “Go To” PCP?

Currently my Edgun Lelya in .22. 18.1g JSB at 920fps with an Athlon scope.Taking collard doves, starlings and piegons at 130 yards. Love this thing. Have had it for a month and a half now. Really shocked at how accurate it is at that distance.

My shooting is split into thirds between my Red wolf, vulcan and newly custom carbon wrapped re-barreled FX crown, all in 0.22.

All three have their benefits (vulcan - portability, offhand; Redwolf - trigger, quietest and by a small margin the most accurate of all; Crown - light, most comfortable stock and awesome mag capacity) and all three are finally lasers.

The night before a pest control outing I started have anxiety trying to choose which to take, lol. Finally decided to rotate and my nerves are now at peace 😆

My List, in order of caliber

.45 Winchester Model 70, Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50mm Mil
.30 FX Impact, Athlon Helos BTR 6-24x50mm Mil, Side Shot large capacity magazines, tuned for 100fpe!
.22 AA S510 Carbine, Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50mm Mil, Huma Reg, Cross Drilled Pot, Lightened Hammer
.22 Weihrauch HW98, Athlon Helos BTR 6-24x50mm Mil
.22 MrodAir Airmax, Burris 2-7x32mm, Tuned, Huma Reg, Guided breech block
.177 Edgun R5M, Athlon Helos BTR 6-24x50mm Mil
.177 Artemis PP700S-A, Vortex Venom Red Dot, Tuned, Huma Reg, Guided breech block, LDC

To be honest, the Impact is my favorite. It's just so smooth doing what it does and has 100fpe of energy. Just got back from tuning at FX by Ernest and it's really laying down the heat. I can't wait until next time at the field.

The Edgun I bought as an attempt to do FT so I'm limited to 20fpe. Out to 50yds it's a ragged hole, but I like to stretch to 100yds and things fall apart at just 75yds. Others have noted it does better so I'm fixin to do some tuning on it.

The Winchester developed a massive leak about a month after I got it and have never been able to get parts to fix it. It's fun, but nothing like the Impact. It's going to get sent to Will Platt soon for a fix and tune.

The AA is my first PCP and though I don't shoot it much anymore, it's my first so I'll keep it forever. Doesn't hurt that it's pretty.

The 98 is nice, has a tune, but isn't performing up to par yet. Still working on this. I find it pretty hard to shoot accurately compared to the PCP guns, doing the artillery hold and all. Really bought this to keep in the truck, but the tuning just isn't quite there yet. It's another pretty gun that could be a good performer someday.

The Snowpeak pistols are just cheap Chinese guns. Single shot. They work well, but aren't really my fav. One of my friends has a Ataman P16 Pistol and I really like that. Trying t work a trade for it.

That Impact though. Wow, what a gun. Clear winner. Only thing I don't like about it is the complexity. When something goes wrong, it's a complicated to fix.

Here's some pics, enjoy

Greenarrow,

First off that’s one of the best avatars I’ve seen, it’s awesome. My go to PCP is your old Royale 400, so thank you for that. I only own two PCPs the other being a Wildcat .22 so the Royale had a high likelihood of being chosen.

The Wildcat is fantastic and it excels in certain situations but I find that for long range pesting the Royale reigns supreme. Last week I was out with Hawkeye69 doing some quality environmental work reducing the local collared dove population and the Royale was spot on as always. I had a double kill of collared doves at 105 yards and got a pigeon at 100 yards with many more closer.

There isn’t much not to like about the Royale and I think it will be a favorite for years to come.

Ha ha! We visited our oldest son I’m MN a couple summers ago. We made a trip to the Mall of America and stopped in at the LEGO Store. He put together some mini figs for us to take back to his little brothers. This was one of the ones he put together. I thought it was funny and reminded me of Bob Ross, the painter that used to be on public television 📺 when I was a kid. I liked it so I took a picture and now it’s ME!

Im so happy that you’re enjoying the 400. It’s great how I have met friends like you through this hobby. It’s great to hear that you had a 2 for 1 shot with the rifle. And at a very respectable distance too. Way to go! Let me know when you get back up here and the invitation always stands for some food and fun shooting airguns on the home range.

Depends on the the thing I have to take care of. AEA airgun Tac-Auto 650 in .177 is my favorite pcp made so far second is a heavy modified Black Panther 500cc .177. If it larger than racoon, then PBBAG Pro 20 gauge is my go to air gun. If that can't do the job then I like using the ELEFANT from Xp-airguns or the AEA Airguns Terminator in 82 cal/18.3mm gun.

My Prod hangs on a screw by the back door for back yard squirrel duty. But squirrel season is closed until October so it isn't getting shot much. I know what it likes and I like it's current tune.

So I am shooting my newer Avenger 25 caliber a lot more. I think I have settled on FX 25.4 grain pellets but JSB Heavies shoot as well so I need to take both to longer range, I am limited to 33 yards in my yard. I have it shooting the 25.4 grain just over 900 fps which I think it about all this gun will do without mods and probably all I need. That pellet, or the heavies, will also shoot through 3/4 MDF at 25 yards. Should be more than enough for small game and capable of a little bigger animals like raccoons. It will be sorted well before squirrel season comes back. Just making nice little 1/4 inch groups at 33 yards. Needs a moderator for backyard shooting. Working on that and getting a compressor/tank setup. Also needs less creep in the trigger.

So my Prod is the favorite but the Avenger would get used on something bigger than a squirrel if I needed it. It might become the favorite if I can quiet it down a little and get most of the creep out of the trigger.

Since I asked the question my air-senal has changed some.

Now I have a TAIPAN Veteran in 22 cal, Royale 400 in 22 cal and still have the QB78 on air. All are keeping a big smile on my face. I have found that I really like the shorter length of the bullpup guns so I tend to reach for the Taipan the most. All 3 shoot AMAZING!

So many guys love the Edgun R5M. I hope to shoot and own one some day.

I am shooting three calibers. An Airforce Talon SS in .22, a KalibrGun Cricket 2 .25 from Charlie and an Impact 30 CAL compact set up for slugs from SPAW. Three guns for three different things. I am going to give my son the Talon and I am going to replace it with a Jefferson Raptor Mini in .22.
