What’s your favorite/go-to .22 pcp?

We will see if it's a myth in terms of the Uragan and shot count especially with the compact and how it does shot count wise relative to the power described (part of my thought process was lost in translation with some of that info when it was being released) and I'm sure there will be some myth busters out there to give their exciting or deflated reports in the next few weeks to come as deliveries should take place for some lucky peeps next week. I'm hoping for pleasant surprises before dropping any coin into a Hurricane.

I only have one .22 pcp so it’s my go-to by default. I still think it’s a fantastic rifle even if it the only one. FX Streamline. It can be shot with a magazine or as a single shot. One of the features that I really came to appreciate (started with the Royale 400 I had) is the 3 level power wheel. 1=11fpe 2=20 fpe 3=30 fpe. Close range and plinking (to conserve air) on low power is perfect to 30-40 yards. It gets 60 shots on high power. It will stretch out if the shooter can.

FX Streamline or FX Dreamline - Bullpup 👍🏽 Either one works!

I wonder what the FX Wildcat is like in .22 cal. If it is as good as the 'Cat in .25 and .30 cal, it is definitely worth consideration.

I've had one for about 4 months and it is fantastic, https://www.airgundepot.com/fx-airguns-wildcat-bullpup-pcp-air-rifle-synthetic-stock-22-caliber.html#jmui=f%3A1349%3A305419896%3AbDyImr3gl5jBt-e3tpRZ%40X-.

I had a .25 wildcat and like this one more, Shoots everything great. JSB 18's, 15's, Hades, AA16's. I also shot some JSB 25.39. Not quite as tight a group but it was still pretty good. Was at the range today, 100 yard gong, 3 shots touching. I do not have any pictures but I had a witness. Honest! Ive already taken 17 ground squirrels with it from 30 - 72 yards which is the reason I bought it. Very easy to manuever around, fences, corrals, machinery. I have an Athlon 4-14 x 44 FFP on it.

@CampFussel,

tell me more about your Firecracker Cricket, please.

@JoeKool,

which one is the pretty wood stock in your picture?

Terry, It was originally Charlie Frear's personal .22 pup. I bought it back in 2016. He had power tuned his .25 cal and said he just never shot the .22 any more. It's always been a laser for me at 33 fpe.

Derrick Wall and I had been conversing back and forth many times and he finally talked me into sending it his way for a power tune last year. Came back shooting the JSB 25 grain at 895 fps and the JSB 18 grain at 995 fps. Still a laser. Can't tell much difference in the sub 1/2" groups at 50yds with either pellet. I'm still struggling at 100 yds and best I've done is 1.2" five shot group. It's probably due to the wind and my poor marksmanship though? I'l get a sub MOA one of these days. Oh, I did get 4 shots under 0.83" and blew it with the 5th shot one time.

Reg set to 150 bar. I fill to 225 bar and shoot two 14 round mags down to 160 bar and refill. It has the extra plenum. The shiny piece in the picture. Had Niel make me a longer shroud, so it wouldn't have such an under bite as the air tube protruded past the shroud after adding the extra plenum.

nine shots at 55 yds created a hole in steel drum.

As of now my favorite go to .22 for longer ranges is my Rainstorm for PCP & my R1 for spring in .22 out to 130 yards for minute of coke can plinking.

I’m looking for guns that most air gunners don’t want.

I ideally want a very long heavy barreled single shot rifle in everything from .177, .22, .25, & .257. 28” in the small bores to 34-36” .257. Being a BR, bipod on edge of field shooter, there’s not much I really like under RAW or custom.

I’m going to try a Charlie Frear power tuned .22 bull pup, Vulcan 2, Uragan, Huben. But for now my best .22 is my tuned up Rainstorm.

It would be great if high end air guns were at every sporting goods store like PB’s.

bucketboy,

Now that's one option I wouldn't of thought of.

ChuckHunter,

Looks like a Long? Also, what Athlon is that, and do you like it?

I absolutely love it !!! Yes it's a long and an absolute laser with several different pellets. I've had a few different .22 PCPS and this one is my favorite by far...

The scope is a Midas BTR 2.5-15×50 that I bought from Chuck a while back. Fits this gun really well !

I've been working to much lately and decided to take tomorrow off and the rest of the weekend to sling some lead. Have a couple tins of Hades to try out tomorrow and maybe a new dairy farm permission with a ton of pigeons and starlings.
