What we post can and will be used against us

I had an indepth conversation with Azuraro this weekend regarding the topic- long shorts. I came to several conclusions. The first was he is an incredible stand up person. He has strong beliefs as most of us on this forum do regarding respect and hunting ethically.He cares about our sport and the animals he hunts (photo's now). although I had blown him smoke about deer hunting, I have the utmost respect for the avid bow hunter. Az even makes his own arrows that he hunts with! I think that is taking commitment up a knotch. The skill it take to even get close to an elk, let alone be confident to hit the vital area with a long bow is an amzing feat!. How many times has a bow hunter gone home empty-handed not getting close enough when a rifle hunter could have easily taken the animal.
Where we differed in our opinion was regarding posting videos on this forum and U-tube ( correct me if I am wrong AZ). Although I disagree with his point, we as a forum should respect this opinion and take it to heart. As the title states, everything we post can and will be used against us. The ANTIs are watching and patiently waiting.
Many of us are the only ones that have a pcp in our area. It has been fun to watch and see other's posts. Most of us are posting because we can't believe we are able to make these shots and want to share our success (and our blunders). We all want to add to the forum making it interesting, entertaining, and, informative. When we celebrate with pictures and video, the antis protray us to the public calling us thugs being cruel, or influencing the youth into devient behavior. I find most people I know don't hunt and they are easily swayed towards that direction.
What has me upset about this delema is I have no responce. I don't big game hunt but I have already been accused of killing all the black rhinos. I had a guy trying to take a picture of me ( last week),in my back yard so he could report me to the police. I just found out it is a CRIMINAL offence to shoot a projectile in my back yard ( and that includes a sling shot and this is a pro-hunting state). So I think this threat is real. I personally don't want anyone to stop posting their successes. It is sad to think that posts on this forum could be used against us to demonstrate immorality (which would be furthest from the truth!)
This post is really to make sure we all hear AZ's concerns. What we do with it is up to each one of us. I would ask others to refrain from adding their negative experiences with antis and offer positive solutions. Don't think for a moment that we could be in Europe's situation!

In all honesty, posts like this and azuaro's happen almost yearly on others airgun forums. These type of discussions are not new. These concerns are brought up often. It is new here only because the forum is new. I will bet that like the other big airgun forums you will see these same debates pop up Atleast yearly.

The answer?? I have no clue. People are not going to stop posting videos or making bad decisions. No offense, but azuaro and NM are both new to the airgun forums to the best of my knowledge and this is an old long running debate that has never seen a winner or any positive changes have happened due to such discussions. Awareness is great and I do applaude the effort, but in 10 years of following airgun forums, this debate/issue has never done anything but cause arguments and I doubt that will ever change!!

You are correct, I am new to air gunning and forums in general but have been hunting my whole life. No offense was intended or taken. I jumped on AZ's post more harshly than maybe I should and wanted to make sure his message was sent. You may be correct in that you can't fix stupid. However, if I am the stupid one by clouding his message, I at least want to correct it. I hope everyone continues to post as well. This a great forum filled with great people. My goal was only to correct a wrong on my part.

This topic is not new nor is it limited to just air rifles. I have seen these debates on every forum or sport I've ever been a part of.

Bow hunting versus Rifle hunting.... longbow versus compound... Fishing versus bowfishing... Fishing versus Spear Fishing.... hunting over bait, dog hunting, the best is treestands versus stalking...

they all start the same.
One person starts a topic like this.
"I don't like ___________ because it isn't ethical, moral, too easy or to far" (pick any of those words or all)

And then it always boils down to if we don't stick together we will lose it all and the Anti's are going to use it against us.

I don't buy it........ It doesn't matter wether we post it, video it, talk about it or not, Anti's are going to be against us no matter what....
They are going to say it's wrong no matter what. They will find something to use against you.

It's kinda like when the news reports that a hunter was caught shooting deer out of season or at night.. even when the media is told that's a poacher not a hunter, they will still continue to use hunter instead of poacher. because poacher doesn't fit their agenda.

These topics remind me of the talk show host that always says crazy things just to get the listeners worked up.

we still read them and listen to them though.
It's like crack, addicting!

Sorry to say but this has been going on for years. Anti hunting and Anti gun crowds will continue to do what they do. Like every society since the beginning of time it will come down to a fight. The side that wins will get it's way. What we are seeing here in the United States is a long period of time without a fight. People tend to get complacent and ridiculous when nobody steps up and shuts them down. I personally could care less about these Anti movement people they are here because we have become complacent and allow them to do what they do. Wake me up when the Revolution starts LOL......
