So I am browsing Brads site ( American Airguns Classifieds) looking as always for 10 meter old school rifles and I see what is to me obviously a scam ...A Google search confirms it, its basically word for word from an old post ...So I post a Scam warning in a post above the scammers post and didn't think to delete my phone number when I did it ... So NOW the scammers seen my number er and as payback listed my phone number as a scammer . I emailed Brad and he will hopefully take it down before long .. ... So now I gotta make a choice whether from now on to just mind my own business and let someone get screwed over by one of these thiefs ???....Or keep alerting the forum owners about it when a thief targets the airgun dudes .And post scam warnings on AA because it is so over run with them......
Well for me its Not a hard choice , Its a good community and we gotta look out for each other . So if I take a lump or two I can handle it , I'm tougher than I look :)
 
Joe... the great thing about the internet is even if one figures out where the dirtbag lives, odds are it's far enough away to calm down before one gets half way done with planning the mayhem, or 1,312 miles into the drive... which ever came first... as I recall. Which reminds me... anyone have any use for some lighter fluid, det-cord, and a NIB chinese wood chipper? Lost interest in the mission they were purchased for.

I would say to mind your business, especially if it has nothing to do with you! Let the moderators do their job. That's how the grave yard got started someone in someone else's business! 
I'm not saying your wrong or right just saying mind your own. That's how you got yourself in this situation now. No one else will say that so I did!

I always knew there was something fishy about you Joe! I mean you even dress like a pirate. I can't believe I didn't put two and two together...

On a (slightly) more serious note, I think you were right to do something. I hate scumbag filth scammers and if good people do nothing then nobody will.

There is no law enforcement agency working on it and nobody for ordinary people to turn to for help if they get scammed. Any law enforcement agency with the remit of preventing online fraud is only there to serve rich people. They have no interest in helping with small dollar value theft. They consider the loss of $500 or $1000 to not be worth their time...

So... if we want to make the classifieds a safe place to buy air guns again, the only way is if people say something when they spot a scam.

Maybe just don't give the scammer your phone number or other info when you do it next time...

I did something similar over an "internet fix your computer" scam. I called the # listed and when they did not answer as the company listed a short conversation ensued whereby they were found out to be European fakers. Long story short the next day my cellphone would not work. They stole my Number! My service canceled. I could have re-established my old number after 5 days but they could do it again. Got a new number and went on.

Joe did the right thing and it cost him but we have to be willing to pay. We will learn as a community how to interrupt these guys. Thanks Joe.

BTB, got a problem with Brad? It seems you do. ( some of us know, and you are a part of the problem not the answer.) One of the problem of IP blocking is, it can & will block legit people s ads, NOT like the ads you post he must remove.

Any whiners every take responsibility for them selves? Use any common since?

The first 100 airguns I purchased came from " Brad's" , never an issue. And IF I had run into a problem "I" would have been responsible, NOT some third party. Buy a bad car & blame the T.V. station that ran the ad, geesh.

How ,many here have done 10% of what Brad has for airguning? Ever read anything on AA , or, just the ads
Any whiners actually know who Brad is? Any idea how much money HE has lost running the longest internet info site in the U.S. ?

So, when your car breaks do throw rocks at the T.V. Station who ran the ad, hell it taint none of your responsibility and hey if we get rid of ALL ads folks will be better off! 

Wanna see BIG airgun scams, try the GTA or better ( $$$ wise ) the yellow. So, what is it , really?
