What This Wildcat Likes To Eat!!

Hello AirgunNation Peoples,

Wildcats get hungry!

So what lead does my Huma-air regulated and Huma power plenum FX Wildcat MKII .25 caliber like to eat? Keep on reading through this thread and you’ll see.

Today, I pulled the Wildcat MKII .25 out of the case, and shot some 50 and 100 yard groups. It has been awhile since she has been shot for groupings. With the 600mm slug liner and the Huma-air 30 cc power plenum, I wanted to see if she was hungry for a three coarse meal of Air Arms 25.4, JSB 33.95, and NSA HP 26.8 grain slugs.

Like said above, this Wildcat MKII has a Huma regulator (@130 bar) and a Huma 30cc power plenum installed. Harmonically tuned for sightly more power, it is my bigger critter getter aka my power hunting bull-pup! (for a .25 caliber) But, today I’m checking her accuracy on the bench out into the backyard range @ 50 and 100.

After setting up the 50 and 100 yard target I first shot groups with the Air Arms Diabolo Field 25.4 grain.

In summary, well I am a far cry from a bench-rest champion, and I definitely pulled a handful of those shots. On the other hand this power boosted .25 Wildcat MKII same holed a good majority of the shots taken. The Wildcat is a wildcard! She may not have the external adjustments as some of the other fine airguns in FX’s roster, but I don’t think that makes her any less of a beast! It actually put the Wildcat MKII up high on my list as a set it and forget it airgun! One that you just pickup and shoot. Adjustable features are great, but all I need to do with this baby is feed her what she likes and watch her eat!

Thanks for your time!

Joe, another awesome post of yours. Always well detailed with validation of accuracy and power both. I guarantee you’ll never have a problem selling off any of your guns, should that time ever come, lol.

Is it safe to ask with the use of slugs, that you are using a slug barrel full duty even for pellet use? I swore you had a tread awhile back specifically on a slug barrel exchange, and you ended the post by saying you wondered why most folks with wildcats haven’t tried that yet. So, is the slug barrel in there permanent now?

reason I ask is most of the Impact folks are saying the slug barrels are shooting pellets more accurately.

Wonderful post, great shooting, lovely kitty.

Thanks 3x!

Nice post!
Can i ask you how many shots you get before you fall off the reg ? interested on getting the power plenum for my own wildcat .25

8 full eight shot magazines for 64 shots.

The slug liner is always in, for me it shoots pellets just fine. No problem. May not be optimized for “pellets” like the experts say (Matt Dubb). Personally, I don’t see a accuracy difference and when or after I get my guns tuned and shooting right, I stop jackin’ with barrel changes and so forth. Kooler to have one barrel for everything, IMO.. Same with my other guns.

I'm thinking Joe needs a gate in his back fence.... :)

Lol, there’s a gate. Just not right where you can see it, lmbo! I’m shoot’n over the fence, no problemo Chief!

I have shot my Impact side by side with a friends Wildcat, both .25 cal and both guns shooting the same pellets (34gr kings) at or around 900fps and neither had the advantage. I'd call it a tie. Nice shooting.

Both are good, both are capable.

Thanks Sonny

Joe, that is some awesome shooting in the wind. That gun is definitely a beast and you are getting great performance out of it.

Made some unbelievable shots on game with her, wish you guys could have seen. My goodness!

Nice shooting and thanks for the post. The JSB pellets surprised me.

JSB KING HEAVY MKII 33.95 are the main ammo used in my Wildcat MKII. @ 880 to 890 fps for 59 fpe it knocks pretty hard!

Joe, excellent thread! You have a beautiful and powerful feline there! Pounces on whatever you put in front of it! Very very nice groups! Pellets at shorter distances are tough to beat and wonder if slugs will catch up soon for ALL distances!? Time will tell.

Thanks Ranchibi! Nothing can replace a domed pellet for me. I use slugs and they hit very hard, but they also hit the wallet hard as well! I limit there use at times.

Joe, same here...18gr are my Raptor’s main diet as slugs to me are meant to hunt...more cost effective pellets so far!

We’re on the same page Ranchibi! 👍🏽

Shot from my Wildcat MKII .25 caliber. From the ChairGun graphs, notice the difference higher Ballistic Coefficient makes between the JSB KING HEAVY 33.95g Redesigned Pellet (BC = 0.0360) vs the NSA HP DB 26.8g Slug (BC = 0.880)

The JSB pellet sheds 19 fpe from the muzzle out to 100 yards, and 261 fps from the same muzzle to 100 yard distance. (59 fpe to 30 fpe)

But...

The NSA slug only sheds 15 fpe from the muzzle out to 100 yards, and 156 fps from the same 0 yard muzzle to 100 yard distance. (54 fpe to 39 fpe)

Even though slugs are pricey, they are performers!

Joe, what to say,,, you just continue to impress. Thanks to you and Chucks secret dossier, I finally built up enough courage to dig into my Wildcat (it was developing a very slow leak anyway). I ordered a reg tester from Huma and ordered the reg and power plenum as well 😂. The Huma reg and plenum was just a spur of the moment as I have been perfectly happy with the FX amp regulator.

I have installed the new reg and plenum, set the reg at 125 bar, changed the air-tube o-ring and filled up the gun. The gun is holding air and all is good. Now I just have to find a good tune for my JSB 33.9gr heavies 👀. Just one question, did you do the porting/elongating on your gun?

My 50yd groups looks pretty close to yours, but I still have some work to do on groups further out. Everything open up quite a bit after 80yd.
