What springer did you shoot today?

Long weekend is over and I’m back on the range. Shot this Barakuda. No problem hitting cans 30-35 yds. Superb rifle. Needs a breach seal which looks like leather.

Also shot a Pro Sport .177. Great rifle, but a little fumbly loading. It’s tight.

I put 16 pellets through my 22 cal LGV Challenger Ultra just now. The 4-12*40 Airmax was out for some reason. Probably because the last time I shot this rifle it was a very warm day. Today is 24 degrees C which is a bit chilly for me. Anyway 4 clicks up and it was on the money.

How do you charge that Barakuda, I presume it is the diesel gun, or do you just shoot it like a standard air rifle, no ether?

It’s like a HW35, maybe it is. I’ve never used the either.
I would try if I had either. I like shooting this gun.

I needed to confirm the power setting in my Tx200.
Shot ten 8.44 gr at 774fps. Thats 11.23 ft lb. And then is shot ten 7.8 gr at 838fps that’s is 12.27. It likes the 8.4 and always has. But it is tuned that close. I ordered two batches of 8.4 with different head size. But I tuned this gun 12 years ago and it is still spot on.

Understand. I think I read somewhere at once a long time ago that they used sealed glass ampoules of ether. No idea of how it works.
DualMagMike has them. Reminds me of the movie, “The Deep”, when I see them. Maybe be he’ll send a few up to play with. Ha ha. Now I have to try them. Don’t know if either is available. We’ll see. Crow

It seems as though I remember reading, that when the ether is used, the gun will most often recock itself when fired. That's a lot of extra pressure created, rather ingenious.

While I suggest you NOT use it, automotive starter fluid can be used.
Also, a really curious fact is that ether in a spray can be used to kill maggots on an open wound: it's very effective, evaporates quickly, does not hurt. Actually, the maggots keep the wound clean since they only eat the dead tissues.
You can probably get spray ether from your friend in the local ER?
