What springer did you shoot today?

Cleaned up my shop this morning with rain in the skies. Put an Aperture on FWB 601. And cleaned the FWB 150. Easily 2 of the best made springers I’ve ever seen.
Last few months I scored some HW30’s and R9’s. Shot them all last week. Today I organized them.
Somebody stop me. View attachment 562662Top 4 row HW30 .177

Bottom 2 row HW30 .22
These, I’m hoping to use till I die. Plus a few select others. I want to give them an assortment of springs, already have 4-5. I have a 80 and 77 up for sale soon. I had another HW30 Walnut .20 on order but canceled because of tariff deal, not sure. But will get it. I lost a 30 stainless with USPS recently. Not meant to be. Waited almost a year for that one. Not going to reorder. Second hand, for sure, but finding one, I’d have a better chance getting hit with lightning this afternoon. Have a few rifles to shoot this afternoon. Crow
Need to try a junior if available, I've only seen pictures.

FWB isa SSP, not a springer.
I’m learning. Wouldn’t take one apart.
How much did these cost back in the day?

Yahoo. 400 pages! I really enjoy these pinned threads. Be Well Brothers. B.
I remember when this was put in a sticky. I thought I was in trouble , on probation. Didn’t know what it meant, still don’t. But, been a blast. Crow

You’re not helping. But never say never. Crow
Yep, and not quite 3 years old!
Been a blur. Crow

Took out my HW90 .20. And I got my weather vein back up after getting hit by a tree in storm. Cost $200. to repair but worth it. It’s on left side of roof of shed. Can’t believe it survived.

No idea, I can vaguely remember what I paid for my first FWB 124D back in the first couple of months of 1975, $125-150 US dollars Ten years later I think it was around $800 for a FWB 300s. It would be interesting to know the original price of a lot of those old springers and SSP guns.

Got a couple of shots off chronying this afternoon -- modified (shortened) 97k in a Beeman 77K stock with a Weihrauch globe front sight and Anschutz diopter with adjustable iris. The stock is much older than the action (prev gen, non-lazer markings) and it's perfect for open sights (as designed).

That’s a cool setup. I like that 👍

I had the new to me FWB 150's out for a little this morning. One back from resealing and new spring. Zeroed both, then stood up for some offhand shooting. I guess I cheated a little by attaching a palm rest. I was surprised my first three shots which I honestly thought would be all over the place were in one ragged hole, then I started getting shakey. Old age caught up quick. I need to do a lot more practice like that to build up some muscle memory and strength as it has been a little over 60 years since doing any shooting like that. I have a Crosmann dueling tree and a Sig steel target with 4 knock over targets and one to shoot and reset. The small disk on the dueling tree was not hard and the sig targets being a little larger were easier.

Took a few rifles out. Started with a HW77 .20.

New to me but feels like an old friend.
This is May 24 long weekend and start of summer. Took a few shoots and heard kids playing, put the guns away. I’m in the middle of cottage country, I can shoot, but don’t. Don’t want to draw heat. Monday they will all be back in the city. Crow

I took my little HW30 equipped with a Gehman 502 mini iris out for a little. No target shooting , just some hanging cans and a reactive resettable target. Shot both sitting in a chair and offhand. It is really a pleasure, easy to shoot. I was using some pellets labeled Beeman coated hollow points and some cheap winchester pointed pellets. Not the best things going, they are too loose in the breech. If I turn the gun up the Beemans will fall out. Later I took my FWB 602 out for some offhand shooting. That thing is heavy and I cannot shoot too many shots before getting tired and wobbly. It's been 60+ years since I have done any real offhand target shooting so need to build up some body strength for this .
