What size thread is on the impact?

If you remove that shroud completely exposing the fitting holding the Smooth Twist X liner in position you will find that a 1/2-20 UNF threaded moderator will spin right on and work just as well at no additional cost!

Actually I like it and have seen Matt Dubber do the same in the past. I do the same thing on my Wildcat MK II Compact. To each his own though!
I do plan, however, to put a 20 mm X 18 mm piece of Twill Carbon Fiber Tube of appropriate length over mine after putting on a couple of o-rings to hold the tube concentric around the barrel liner "housing"! I am using a Hugget Belita currently.

My MKII has a little adapter at the end of the shroud that screws off so you can use M20x1 or a 1/2x20. Is this different than others, new?

Stoti, do not remember mine having that one!...I will check later (maybe it does), but is much better, that way you do not need and adaptors for 1/2 unf moderators! like it!
