I'm really torn between 2 fx guns one is the bobcat 25 cal or the boss i am going to be hunting groundhogs squirrels and on occasion coyotes any advise on either is greatly appreciated
Bobby, where in WV? I have an FX500, and a .30 Bobcat. The .25 would do the job, no problem. I have taken dozens of ground hogs with it out to a tad over 100 yards, here on WV. The .30 will do it even better, but is not really required...
Road trip! I am in the Ripley, Ravenswood area. If you want to try either of the guns, just give me a ring, and we will set something up... The FX's are quite a bit different than the M'rod.
I just took this groundhog last week with the .30 -
I know the feeling lol I'm glad the fx lowered the price a bit for the bobcat it makes me feel a little bit better about dropping 2500 on a decent setup
Bobby, I don't know what your time frame is but if I were you I would wait for the Impact. Providing the Impact is accurate I see the design as lightyears ahead of the Bobcat. The mid-ship bolt alone is a huge improvement over the rear cocking lever. I have a Vulcan (the first middle located bolt assembly) and it is very handy. The second reason is versatility. The price of under 1900 with the possibility to change calibers is a game changer. The other factor is the AR style grip and safety. This will allow you to get a custom grip from almost any AR company. The picatinny rail is also the better scope mounting platform. I am going to set mine up with a 20 MOA one piece mount and a SWFA SS scope. This will be a true 300 yard capable set up when using a MRAD turret. Get the .30 and then order another caliber later if you feel the need for a higher shot count. I also suspect that this gun will be quieter than the Bobcat
Thank you for the advise I still have a little bit more to save before I can get one I am really digging the style of the impact I will probably wait until I can see a decent review of it may ted will do a review when it comes out hope and pray lol
The FX Impact has a 480cc air reservoir, while the FX Boss has a 500cc air reservoir. Shotcount should be about the same on the FX Impact, if not better! The FX Impacts will start shipping this summer according to AOA.
