What Scope Will Be Best For Me?

So I am about to get another awesome gun from Ernest it will be a custom crown mk2 in a saber tactical chassis in .22 and will be having it set for 15-20fpe for a backyard pesting gun most of the shots will be 35 yards and under sometimes closer or farther depending on what I am doing. I don't want to go crazy expensive on a scope but I also don't want to cheap out it does deserve a decent optic for what it is but amazing glass isn't needed at these distances. Side focus preferred illuminated is a bonus and would like to keep the weight down of possible. Thank you for your help and hope everyone is staying safe.

Probably not a more subjective question can be asked than "what scope is best for me". Everyone's eyes are different and how each person shoots is different-are you a clicker or holdoverer? A scope liked by one will often be detested by another because of click quality or reticle appearance. But here goes. I use lots of Hawke scopes because they function and are clear for me. I also like Primary Arms scopes. Aim Sports Alpha 6 scope seems very good considering it's price point-I now have 3 of them and all are working well.

I have been searching and doing a lot of research for about a month. I am no expert in any sense and many are on this site. But if I had your set up and wanted to shoot just like you do, I would get the Athlon Helos BTR in 2.5-12x42 FFP with illumination with an Athlon one piece mount or the FX no limits. The scope will cost about $450 or a little cheaper at Camera Land this weekend. I ended up getting the Ares from them, but I have grand plans to shoot further and at full power. But most likely I will not, we all know how that goes. LOL

Also scopelist has good deals on Meopta Optika6 scopes right now in stock. My buddy just got one for 20% off with make an offer. Very nice scope.

Athlon Talos BTR 4-14x44 FFP IR. Nice glass, but mine came with the focus VERY tight. I would turn it several times every day till it got better. Now I twist it a few times before I shoot and and it is fine. Other than that it is very good scope.

I really like Athlon Scopes. Wish it was easier to get them.

Should have said more for my needs not me I get that everyone has a different go to. I am both a clicker and a holder over shooter, I have the crimson trace 5 series on my .30 impact and the alpha 6 on my .25 compact impact, also have a atn than will rotate between them if needed. That was my toss up do I just get another alpha 6 but hesitant for 2 reason not deal breaker just thinking will it be to heavy and will 4.5 starting magnification be to much at 35 yards and under.

I was looking at that one but not sure if I can drop that much, I did see an argos 2-12 that may work but I think it may have a bdx reticle and not sure how that will work.

If you're referring to the MOA version, then yes, it does appear to have a BDC reticle. The MIL version is different though with true MIL spacing. Here's a couple pics of reticle offerings for the Athlon Helos BTR Gen2 2-12×42...
