Just wondering what magnification the top boys shoot off in the 100yd competition, do they have their scopes cranked up to the max?

I used 20x on my Hawke Sidewinder, and it was more than enough at 100 yards. Even the guys with the 10-50x60 large target scopes were shooting at 30x, no more than that...

I used a Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56. For AFT I used 10-20x, for 50y I used 20x, for 75y & 100y I used 20-25x, for Speed Silo I used 10x. For all the events I found parallax using the highest magnification then dialed it down to where I was comfortable.

I used the new Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP 6-24 set to 15-16X for 75/100yd Extreme. Used Hawke Sidewinder 6.5-20 for Field at 20X and 10X for speed silo. I like the Vortex for pesting but not so much for paper.

Michael, is this the best way to fine tune focus/parallax with most zoom scopes? (Go to max magnification, adjust focus, then reduce magnification to suit the purpose.). Aztec Emerald, for example?

At 75 yards I'm usually dialed in at 24x. However, I crank it all the way up to 32x for 100 yards and beyond.

One of the main reasons to use >25X magnification is to be able to see the pellet holes. Sometimes the paper falls back in place after the pellets passes.
Knowing exactly where you last pellet hit is essential.

I have a Sightron 10-50x60 and I shoot it on 30x max at 75 yards. Usually around 15x at 25 and 50.
