What scope is on "your" HW50s ???

Leupold VX Freedom EFR 3-9x33AO. Why take any chances? Originally came packaged as the Hunter model an AOA exclusive with an expensive $205.78 Weihrauch labeled 4x32AO airgun scope that says made in China on the underside of the eyepiece that looks just like a twin to my old $39.99 BSA airgun scope including the screw in aluminum lens dust caps. I have a NIB $246.73 3-9x40AO WEIHRAUCH labeled Chinese made scope too but at least it was a free toss in with my new HW100 BPK I bought from them when they had free scope and shipping during that special several months ago. Looks just like my old $49.99 BSA airgun scope even the screw in aluminum lens dust caps too.

I used to push Vortex brand because of their great no BS lifetime warranty but not anymore after experiencing first hand 2 defective scopes from 2 different price classes of Vortex scopes I personally own.

Have read a lot where folks with a HW30 really like the Hawke 2-7x32 and was curious if the HW50 had such a following.

Thanks

Ray

I just put a Vantage 2-7x32 on an HW30 after doing some reading on this & other forums.

I did find some discussion on the HW50 as well.

Google 'HW50 scope killer' or some variation of that title. I can't link it from my phone for some reason.

Short version from memory: Vantage are not springer rated scopes and people have had trouble with ~12 foot pound rifles.

Check to see if it's still on sale. I don't push this brand due to just too many issues from owners posting their not so favorable feedback of their negative experiences who will never trust this brand after all of their first hand failures. At least you know if it fails know the potential of what you may be buying that's all. Personally I just think they are overpriced by a factor of 2x - 3x for what you get IMHO. Save your receipts because their lifetime warranty which you may need applies to original owner with proof of purchase receipt and not transferable to a second owner so beware when buying a used HAWKE OPTISAN FALCON MTC BSA MUELLER DISCOVERY TAC VECTOR and ALIEXPRESS scopes and so on where there's no more warranty so be sure to buy them used for really dirt cheap in case you have to toss them into the trash that ends up in the local landfill if they break because they aren't heavy enough to be used as boat anchors like Chinese compressors.

I wonder how THIS ONE (2019 model year) compares to the old Japan made version sold 30 years ago? I had a Japan made Tasco 2-7x32AO sold it years ago as a package deal along with my first 177 Beeman labeled HW77K super accurate workhorse and was a fantastic scope shoulda kept that scope!

I have a couple of very old Japan made Tasco scopes that I've had mounted on powder burners for many years. I've been using them for decades and they are outstanding. I wish I knew back then what I know now and I would have bought a lot more of them. That Japan made Tasco 2-7X32 that you mentioned is one that I really wish I bought. I even have an older Chinese made 3-9X40 Tasco that has worked very well for many years.

My experience with Tasco has been very good.

Last Tasco I had was on a powder burner. It was a Tasco World class 3 x 9. And was on my 270. Worked great. Then I bought a 30-06 bolt action and put it on there and it would not zero in. I was at the gun range and kept moving The Turrets and The POI would not budge no matter how much I move the turrets. But it was a present anyway so it’s not like I paid anything for it. But my HW 50 has a Leapers 4 power mill dot on it Because when I got the gun, I had the scope already and it was not being used.

They are supposed to have a lifetime warranty. But if you don't want to bother with having to send it in for a replacement then...

I wish I would’ve known that then. But that scope and gun is long gone now. Actually I eventually got it Sighted in. I ended up tapping the top of the turrets with the bottom of the screwdriver and had to move them probably five times the amount just to get it on the bull’s-eye. What was weird is I thought for sure I would run out of adjustment after all of that turning of them.

I leave this on 8x, sometimes dial it down. (8x is what I wanted for this gun, anyhow) 10x zoom is too much for this lense config, and strains your eyes. I've tried adjusting the front objective, and the rear eye relief. Otherwise a fantastic scope

Man I like that reticle for sure. Is that a 1 in tube or 30mm? Nice looking 50 you have there. Is that the hunter model that came with the moderator or did you add that yourself?

Thanks for the ideas and suggestion so far fellows, keep it up.
