What problems might there be when mounting a BARREL BACKWARDS?







So, if I took a PCP and took the barrel off, flipped it around and mounted the muzzle into the action....

 

(Yes, you DID roll your eyes, didn't you?! ) 





(1) How would this affect shooting performance? 





(2) Would I mess up anything permanently doing this?

This is easy to do with the leshiy but it was harder to load didn’t notice much else except some FPS loss but just a lil.

if I did this on any other gun could be a problem. Accuracy/velocity loss due to ckoke at action end. Not sure about permanent damage guess that would be a gun spefic

Depending on the gun, it would look awfully silly with a transfer port and orings on the muzzle end. Having no transfer port on the receiver end would definitely have an effect on performance. On a gun with no transfer port like a Leshiy, you will just have a very sore thumb in short order trying to load pellets into a choke.

I did just that and ended up with my best shooting Crosman pistol ever. I was having accuracy problems to start with and when I pushed a pellet down the barrel I noticed it was tight at the breech end and loose at the crown end. So I cut the port off of the one end and drilled one on the other. It shot lights out like half inch groups at 50 yards from then on.

It would be an easy thing to do on a Leshiy or one of the FX liners and probly a couple more as well. Normally you would be putting the choked end first in your situation and it would be hard to push a pellet in and be sloppy down the rest of the barrel. So accuracy should suffer a bit. It likely won't mess anything up permanently unless you made changes to make it fit.

Oh, no problem at all, just load the pellets in backwards and it will shoot fine!

I didn't notice any difference when I inadvertently reversed the barrel liner in my .177 WC. The gun produced a shotgun-pattern regardless of how the barrel liner was inserted.

That being said, my Wildcat mk1 .25 cal. and Wildcat mk2 .30 cal. are my most accurate PCPs.

I think the barrels are inserted correctly in these 2 .

Most barrel have the transfer port drill into one side of the barrel so it's impossible to flip it backwards unless you are a real dumb noob. The only gun I know that would be able to flip it backward is the leshiy and fx guns cause they used liners, not barrels.
