What pistol did you shoot today

Man, if you’re doing that at 40 yards standing you’re better with a pistol than I!
I can't do that every day, but I can do it on a good day, and thankfully I still have more good days than bad. I also turned a new front sight post slightly wider than the stock post to better fill the notch in the rear Williams. That one mod made a big difference. I also did a trigger job. Next up are new grips. I have a pair of Cocobolo slabs cut for that part of the project.

Bought this Daisy 500 .177 for $47. And it works, yay. It is a single shot, the hammer is manually cocked each shot. Beretta looking pistol. And it has some power. Tested and averaging in the 421 fps. It will take some getting used to the fixed sights, but you can bounce around a can at 25 ft or so consistently.

I can't find much information about this pistol, date made etc... information??

Blue Book says the 500 Raven was made from 1994-1998. Value for a 100% gun is $80.00. I suspect you are right about not being a good seller due to it being a single shot. Daisy resurrected the gun in 2007 in the form of the Powerline 617X. The 617X is built on the same frame, but it's a six shot using small rotary mags. It was produced from 2007-2013. MSRP was around $50.00

I bought a 617X back when they first came out, and I still own it. It came with only two mags, and I've always wanted to get more. Strangely enough, PA carries them, and I just received a 5 pack of them. It's a good gun with a surprisingly smooth and light double-action pull, and a nice crisp single action pull. I get around 70 shots per C02 cartridge, and velocity with RWS Hobby is right around 490 fps. It's very reliable and more than accurate enough for cans at 20 yds.

You're welcome. I shot the 617X yesterday to be sure the new spare magazines actually fit and work in my gun. They work perfectly! Put a whole 250rd tin of Crosman 7.4gr wadcutters through it. I forgot how much fun that gun is. Now that I know they work, I ordered two more 5 packs of mags.

I think for what you paid, you got a great deal on the model 500. It's relatively rare, they're good shooters, and your example looks to be like new with the box and paperwork too. For $47 I'd have bought it with no hesitation. Nice find.

Had a shot of Tequila, well, several shots actually. Made by one of our members, Xoloti.

Did a somewhat somewhat serious test on Tequila 013 Everything from 12gr GTO's to 22gr RMR Slugs too heavy for regulator pressure, 9 yards, rested 10 shots for 5 or so different weights, a few several times. red-dot. The big hole is 18.13 at 601fps 3.2 deviation (pretty much across the board on that, but some at 7.1)
Each Squirrel is 1 3/4" x 1 3/4". Gun was tethered for consistency. My aiming point was the shoulder dot, when I could see it...OLD eyes. I'm going to repeat, this time I'll actually mark the target prior to shooting.

Had fun this morning with some air pistols that I haven't shot much lately. A KWC select fire blowback replica of the Ingram M11 SMG in .177bb, a Daisy Powerline 201 springer, and the Crosman 2240. After a bit of trigger work, the 2240 always shoots well. Going to convert it to a steel breech with the LPA rear sight and the carbine stock one of these days.

The Daisy 201 design is similar to the old Marksman 1010, but with slightly better ergonomics and an average velocity of around 310 fps with Crosman 7.4gr wadcutters. Shoots pretty well for a smoothbore bb/pellet dual ammo sort of gun. I'd like it more if they didn't write a novel on the side of it.
