What parts are interchangable between calibers on the FX STX kits?

Hi all,

just wondering what parts are interchangeable between calibers in the FX STX kits. Im guessing the shroud, and outer barrel housing, if you buy same length barrel in both calibers, and the parts you do need to buy are the probe, transfer port, and barrel, correct?

sorry, this is another jumble of words i hope makes sense to you guys. Thanks for the help

Yeah the caliber specific parts are the probe, barrel liner, brass barrel inlet, liner lock and the stainless part opposite the liner lock. Goes between the liner and brass inlet.

Parts you can swap over are the barrel house, and shroud but like you said both are length specific, 700 for 700 etc. You can use a 600 or 500 shroud on a 700 for example but will look a bit funny on the Impact for example. Other models I'm not sure.

Bagnall and Kirkwood airgun spares in the UK sell the parts that you can't buy in North America. Liner lock and stainless connector piece, I built a .30 setup this way. Can save a bit of money on a caliber change this way by changing some parts over. There is loctite so you need some (a fair amount) of heat the first time taking things apart, I just do them up hand tight and they stay put and come apart when I want them to.

Liner locks. Thats all i need i guess. I have. .22 probe on the way from FX, but i didn’t think i’d need a new liner lock and the one on the opposite side. Can i just jam some orings on both sides or wrap both ends in teflon so they dont wiggle around? Doubt that’d work, but worth asking i guess lol.

I would just order the 2 parts you need from here.

Yep. Ill do that. But thats like 80$ i believe... wish i’d save a bit more than that, but still saving a bit i guess... But in the mean time while they ship here, do you think teflon and/or an o-ring would work okay?

Going to what caliber from what caliber

Like .25 to .22 some wraps of electrical tape or orings might work on the liner lock side, but the other side I'm not sure.

Would be worth a try I suppose, yeah unlike fxusa the price is pretty high for parts. Wish they would just sell them out of the USA no everyone would want to swap parts around when changing calibers and they would still sell plenty of kits.

Alight, ill give it a go then. Im going from .25 to .22, so hopefully it works. Thanks for the help Glem!

Also, i totally agree. FX’s parts can be a little pricey at times. Especially for a little connector and lock??? Nearly 80$ for both? My wallet has a big fat burning hole in it now...

Close to 95usd before shipping heh, this is UK pounds price but remember Bagnall is the middleman, they're making a profit on the parts fx sells to them at whatever price. Fxusa is much more reasonable in my experience but dont sell these parts to my knowledge. Let us know how it works

The plus side is once you have these parts in the calibers you want, to change from a 700 to a 500 all you need is a 500mm barrel house, and if you have a second shroud you can make one 500mm length. I got lucky and found a used (new) 500mm barrel house and got a "compact kit" for around 100$

Like such

Sure thing. Lucky you though, finding a cheap 500mm kit. I wonder, how does the 500mm housing with the 700mm barrel work as you said earlier? Im sure it looks weird...

I mean like putting a 500mm shroud on a 700mm barrel looks funny. And the only thing I bought for the 100 was the barrel house, got a .22 slug liner and cut down a .25 and .30 pellet liners I wasnt using to work with the 500.

It is an awesome gun... i wish it just had a little bit more power though. Even with the huma TP, PP, and the 600mm barrel, it makes about 60 ft/lbs i believe when i last measured velocity with the 29gr NSA slugs in .25. Which isn’t bad, but it seems that most people get better results with the 30+gr slugs in the slug A and Sup Heavy at about 900-950fps, and my little Dreamline won’t make that much power, YET...

I want to try and open up the probe and port, but not sure how to do it. That’ll probably be my next project though.
