What optics / mounts are on top of your HW35e?

Here’s what I recommend on your HW35. Scope linked below. For the mounts you can go with a RWS lockdown one piece mount; it compensates for barrel droop. Also, you can’t go wrong with a one piece mount especially for a springer. Two piece is fine too.

If this helps, give an accuracy rating will ya. Thanks.

This is my HW95L with Sportsmatch T04C 2-Pc 1 Inch Medium Scope Mounts used to mount a Hawke AIRMAX 3-9x40 AO. These rings seem to work great and have a stop pin.

I have upgraded the scope/rings as I wanted an IR reticle and this is the new setup.

I had a set up similar to the first Deerstalker set up, but wanted to use open sights. I now have a Williams peep sight on it. It did require getting a longer elevation screw from Williams, but it works great now. And it is simple to remove if I want to reinstall the glass, I am shooting 10M rifles regularly in the house and have added the HW35E to the end of the session rotation because it is light, fun, accurate, and pretty.

Just ordered my HW35e and I'm looking for recommendations for a good scope and mounts to put on it. What are you using?

About the scope I want to keep it around the $150-$170 mark and I usually like two piece mounts over one piece. Did you had to use adjustable mounts to compensate for barrel droop?
I am curious what did you end up getting? I am waiting for my HW35E and trying to figure out the exact same thing. The Hawke Vantage 3-9x40 looks like the one I might end up with. It is $139 at the moment. Fits the budget for this build. I would rather have a 2 piece adjustable mount though. Just looks better to me. Thanks!

I have never heard of Barrel Droop on an HW 35 The latch is supposed to eliminate that, and mine do. I have an EB and an E both from 1977 and neither have any barrel droop. As far as scope mounts 1 piece with a stop screw in them are the best way to go. On guns like an R1 they are mandatory due to the viciousness of the shot cycle. The R1 is simply an HW 35 scaled up slightly.

I have a Beeman/Williams Aperture Sight on my EB, and the stock Open Sights on my E. I also have a Bug Buster 3x9 Scope that I can mount on the E but I just used the mounts that came with the scope on that one. I use both my Hw 35's for iron Sight Practice Guns, hence the Iron Sights on both.

I had an old Bushnell .22 scope on my EB for several years and how it survived I have no idea but it did and I still have it. I had to install a Beeman Scope Stop for that one as the mount didn't have enough clamping pressure to prevent the scope from shifting on the dovetail.

UTG makes a bunch of different scope mounts and they are cheap, but well made. I have several of them on various guns.

I add a stop screw to my Williams/Beeman peep sights on Weihrauch airguns. Simple drill and tap. This allows the sight more rearward and looks better/cleaner. The closer the iris is to the eye the smaller the hole can be. Accuracy really improves. You are lucky to find two 35’s without barrel Droop. Every one I‘ve ever seen has had barrel droop. It’s either by design or because of the positive locking latch. Never exactly understood it.

When Mr. Beeman went to Germany to Hand Pick the guns he was going to import, he was looking for two things. Stock Finish, and Barrel Angle (Droop)

My EB has a better finish on the stock than my E does. Granted I did refinish the E Stock due to Pink House Paint being all over it, but it wasn't all that below the pink paint.

As far as the Latch, it has a point on it that mates with a Vee Shaped notch in the Female part of the hinge. It indexes in that notch every time exactly the same way So it is impossible for Barrel Droop to occur over time. If it was right when it was made it is still right. The latch is what governs where the barrel stops when it is closed. It also puts the same amount of crush on the Breach Seal every time the barrel is closed..

There is a reason why this gun has been in continuous production since 1951 (71 years, 2 years younger than me!) It's because they are that good!

I also chose the Weihrauch over the FWB124 because of the positive barrel lock.

Other than taking the Trigger Group out to clean the sticking Safety Button every 10 or 15 years my EB has never been apart and I doubt the E has either. Both are tight and essentially one hole guns at 10 M!

Here's a pic of the E with the Scope mounted to shoot groups to figure out which pellets shot the best. After 40 years of thinking H&N Wadcutters were the most accurate, JSB Exacts took over the top spot. That's not 3 shots,,, It's 5 !

Just received a 35e from Krale 3 weeks ago. I was stunned by how well made this rifle is! All this for $425! I own some nice vintage centerfire arms, model 19, series 70 45 auto, woodsman…etc. I have been reading this wonderful forum off and on for a few years now. Should have purchased this rifle or something similar years ago. Trying to find ammunition and reloading components during the pandemic was no fun. With these amazing air rifles you have all the precision of centerfire target arms without the noise, picking up brass, and extended cleaning. I see now what all the fuss is about. Than you for all the excellent advice this forum offers.
