What magnification do you prefer for 75+ yard shooting?

for hunting 10 x is perfect but for target practis 20 better .I bought a scope a falcon menace 5.5 25 50 ffp and am waiting for the shiping , have anyone used one and can tell me something about it

At 63 years of age my eyes have a difficult time picking out exactly where a .22 cal pellet hole is at 100 yards with my Optisan 6-24 scope. This is a great scope for the money but It is falling short for me when spotting the impact points. So my question is what magnification works comfortably? I suspect something like the Nightforce ATACR 7-35 56 is the most versatile all around since it focuses down to 10 M. For short range hunting and has 35x on the top end for target. Price is definitely a hold back here. What other scope can match this quality and feature set for a more reasonable price?

For target shooting you don't want FFP. You'd be slowly working your way up maximum magnification range of your scope as you get steadier and can find your target easier. With 40x or 50x your FFP scope reticle will be maximum size and in the way.

Close to maximum magnification in the range of 40-50x is desired to see where you hit or missed.

Sightron do make FFP scopes. Though as Shutik said the reticle will obstruct your field of view, and likely any 100yd bull you're aiming at. For field target you will be ranging and likely shooting at the same magnification with every target so ffp is pointless.

Ok. How many guys end up with 2 scopes. 1 for hunting and 1 for target?

Most end up with two guns. You're welcome to try it the other way. Another way to think of it is you can kill with a target gun given the opportunity and eat. You're not guaranteed to win a target match with a hunting gun given tgd same opportunity.
