What is your most accurate springer out to 55 yards?

As per the title, I see some wonderful collections and some highly tuned guns here. I also see a lot of very impressive groups from fairly pedestrian rifles.

What gun that you have personally owned or shot would you take if you had to make that one shot?



For me, it is a .177 TX200 SR. It has some light freckling and is not as fancy as a lot of others and it shoots at under 10 FPE. Somehow it always seems to edge out whatever else I might be shooting on the day.

Walther LGU .177 absolutely my best. I also have a Diana 430L that shoots really good out to that range but it can't quite match the Walther for consistency.

My HW97 takes the cake, but I can come very close to the same accuracy with my asp20 then followed by my t05 D48. I tend to creep up to that yardage, but usually stay below 50ish...

There is a special on that rifle at AoA. They spoke very highly of the rifle.

1.D54 .22.

2-tie beeman r9 .177 limited edition, fwb 124d, rws 48 .177 and slavia 634 .177. After the airking the rest is bunched up very close.

My RWS 54 shoots .5-.75 inch groups at that range with a variety of pellets thus far. It will probly do a bit better, on a day, with less wind.

all these nice, expensive guns. yeah, i'm a bit jealous. and I only have 25-yards available, so there's that too.

of the oh, eight or so break-barrels I have here, none worth more than about $200,

so, I'd grab the one I know well enough and can at least shoot a dime at 25-yards.

And with about 18FPE, it'll take down small critters if necessary.



And that would be... tah-dah... The Gamo Silent Cat. About $150 new.

Until I can regularly shoot at 50+ yards, there's really no point in me buying an expensive gun. They about ALL do just as well at 25-yards, in my experience.



Besides, if I'm going to drop $600+ for a gun (let alone thou$sands), might as well be a real one.
(like this gem I picked up for that exact price a few days ago. 45ACP.)

a gamo big cat .22 thats had some basic clean and lube work done .. it 'usually' puts um right in there with 1 1/2 or so accuracy in other words, i can hit soda cans with it out to there, usually ....

I have not tested too many at 55 yards but likely my 97KT and R9/R11 hybrid are at the top.

97- 51.5 yds the squares are 1/4'' minus the one I pulled the group is under 1/2''

R9/11- 55 yards again had to fling one but the other 4 measure .352''

Sig ASP20 .22. Have had several 50yd. groups that were 1/2" and a couple of 75 yd. groups that were 3/4" or less. Haven't shot any @ 55. Those were with AA 16gr. @ 835fps.
