Considering the relative rarity of this calibre it seems to get a high percentage of votes

.177 my favorite. 8.4 and 10.5 have a nice flat trajectory and I use them for Field Target. 13.4 for hunting, the wound channel is the same as .22 but penetration is better. All documented by video for empirical evidence. No need to hunt with anything bigger than .177.

Agree with this. Seems that pellets available today in .177 should do pretty much anything needed for an air gun.

Two absolutist statements, so according to you two .177 covers all the bases...? We all know the .22 offers more options. I personally won’t hunt with a .177, I’m not good enough. The .22 will have to do.🤓

Absolutist? I did state seems, and it is what I believe. Contrast that with "we all know the .22 offers more options". As to your last two lines, only you know about that.

You “agreeded” with the bandg, then said “seems”. The .22 “does” offer more options. As for hunting with the .177? Pass throughs with small wound channels is why I switched to the .22 And I do know about my last two lines... hundreds of pests have fallen to my .22

And I've taken hundreds of rabbits and squirrels with .177 pellets and many with BB's. All many decades ago when the rifles were generally much less refined than today and the ammunition choices were limited. It's not rocket science. Shoot what you like. Many will agree with you and many will not. Some think it has to be .25, others love .20 or .30 as well. The .177's available today should outperform those I had access to by a wide margin and what I had worked fine for me. If you need .22 then by all means shoot that.
