What is the “tuned range” hammer spring for a 25 Cal Taipan Vet Compact

As we all know the hammer spring of the Taipan Vet can be easily adjusted to very the power level. Last week I set the hammer spring so I got 30 ft/lbs of energy, based off the speed of the pellet using a chronograph. Pellet was the standard JSB 25.34 grain.

When I posted this some people commented that is “out of tune” for the regulated setting because the Taipan rated up to 40 ft/lbs by Taipan in the manual

However, I believe that there is a “RANGE” that the hammer spring can be set and still tuned with out changing the regulator pressure. This power range gives you some flexibility for hunting. Yet, I do know this might be an optimal tune.

Do think I am right my assessment or view? Also, how do you find your optimal tune for a regulator that can’t easily be adjusted like the Taipan Veterans? Yet the hammer spring can be easily adjusted.

The Taipan regulator is not that difficult to access, honestly. I can, after a few visits to it, do it in well under 30 minutes.

Here's a shot of the current reg adjustment that gives me 52 shots, avg. 908fps with 25.4 JSB / FX, with a 10ES. It hits regulator setting at 100bar +-5

I actually get 60+ very useable hunting shots. The hammer spring maxes out at 938fps.

It seems technically, using the 95-97%, rule my reg is actually set too high. Surprising to get such good results and be soooooooo far away from the 140+bar reg setting we all seem to start with.

@matt247265, actually the accuracy isn’t bad, but there is a bit of arch more than wanted and yes, I am trying to avoid building damage. I know I need to specialize for different types of shooting. So that is why I want to get a 22 cal and then a .177 cal to give flexibility, for a start, then more in future.

Actually, when I got my Taipan it came directly from the Czech Republic to the Netherlands without the hammer spring installed in the gun. Hell, the same thing happened when I received my Impact MK II from Krale, no hammer spring installed.

Thanks for the feedback though, it gives me some idea of where to adjust for the Taipan.
