What is the process to accept payment on classified?

Hello friends,

We are moving oversees shortly and the destination country requires a hunting license to use a .22. As such I have decided to sell my beloved Weihrauch HW80 .22 and Taipan Veteran .22 so someone else can enjoy them as much as I have. Most likely I will pick up .177 on the other end when we are settled. I never sold anything online before, so could some with more experience in the classified area, share how I would go about the process specifically with respect to payment to avoid scams (to avoid charge-back, non-payment)? Search didn't point me to anything obvious, if I missed something than links to existing posts would be most welcome, too. I read the two articles that Michael posted a while back which are helpful.

Virtually every dealing I've had through classifieds, selling AND buying was done through PayPal. Never had any problems. If selling on classifieds here look up feedback & reputation of person(s) you're dealing with.

This is key. This place runs a tight ship to avoid common scammers. Sure, some good folks turn bad and some others fall through the cracks, but this place is by far the safest and best place to sell on the net.

Suggest PayPal (not friends and family) with payment by a consumer-friendly credit card. We like Discover as it has been great for us for fraud and disputes with vendors.

what ever you do use UPS or FED X .......DO NOT USE USPS they have been terrible lately , sometime long delays in shipping or lost packages .

I apologize for replying twice (my initial reply was censored due to rule #10; no worries I respect the rules and the hard-working moderators decisions). Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to respond. It's a helpful data point.

This is a good site to sell on. I price my stuff a little lower and it sells quickly. I prefer a getting a bank check. When the buyer sends me a picture of the check with my name and the correct amount on it, I ship. No problems so far.

Since you’re selling, you could require zelle. Scam risk is zilch. No chargeback risk.
