I have a .22 FX Tarantula with the high end wood and a beautiful Burris 4-12 scope on it I am thinking of posting to the classifieds. The gun is regulated and a real tack driver. I have not see one posted recently so am trying to ascertain value. The gun was just completely resealed by AOA.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Ken

If its the grade 4 Turkish walnut in mint condition I would guess perhaps $500? I haven't seen a regulated Tarantula before, does it have a Huma? Those guns were known to be accurate out of the box without regulators.

Does the manometer only read the regulated pressure and how many consistant shoots do you get when starting from 200 BAR?

Is yours able to shoot Beeman Kodiak or Barracuda Match or JSB Monsters original or redesigned well?

Yes, it is the grade 4 Turkish walnut and amazing wood. The gauge does read the regulated pressure. It is a Lane regulator and will come with a rebuild it. Seems amazing to me that a hand built gun with incredible wood and a high-quality scope would sell so cheap. Maybe the traditional rifle designs have fallen out of favor and people now want Impact's and Leshiy's:)

Outstanding rifle! One of the best FX labeled rigs ever made.

Alas only the latest greatest ( preferably with bugs/issues for the beta-buyers) brings any resale value. Many folks wont care if you post targets but a thinker should, might help w/price?

Run it on Brad's site - best chance of finding folks who really know what it is - ,maybe take it to a match or even sell local. If you [purchased new from ARS you should be able to get 80% of purchase price.

They just dont make them like that anymore but you need to find a buyer who thinks for them selves and there few & far between these days.

You can put it up for how much you want and let the market decide and depends on finding the right buyer too. I have seen them start as high as $700 with extras then reposting for quite a while lowering the price to $600 with still no takers for months probably due to no inquirys or interest. The problem I would anticipate is that there are too many new modern guns out there today for the price you want to sell an older gun for being that it is an excellent gun there is no doubt stiff competition on the used gun market for newer guns for sale which seems to be the craze lately.

You need to find an old school person with deep pockets or list it and wait it out.

Ken, interesting thread.. I also have a FX Tarantula.. my first PCP.. the walnut is absolutely beautiful... accuracy is amazing.. I hope someone recognizes what they "could" purchase from you and steps up.. $$$.... I've thought about selling mine many times but no way would I take that price you mentioned .. Wish u the best on your sale.. those guns are well built and DONT leak!!

I had one a few years ago with grade 2 walnut stock I traded a Beeman R7 with burris scope for. I had the R7 up for sale and a guy offered the Tarantula in trade, wasn't looking for one but the gun looked so nice I did the trade. I sold it a couple years later for a lot less than I thought it should be worth just buy how beautiful it was. There was a time years ago a grade 4 would bring more than it sold for, the PCP world has changed looks has little to do with market today. You might be better off trading it, good luck.

Reviving this thread for fun. I still have the gun and enjoy shooting it every so often, so probably will not sell. After spending tons on a FX Impact build recently I decided to go back to basics. I sold the Impact. Bought a Raw 1000LRT that is amazing. I have also started buying up old match rifles. I am getting amazing rifles for very little money compared to the cartridge guns. I am not sure if it is like this in Europe, but I can buy a beautiful Feinwerkbau 150 or 300/300S many times for under a $1000 dollars. The quality of workmanship is unlike anything you can buy today. I think I can say at this point in my 50 years of gun collecting that buying used airguns is a far better option if you indeed enjoying shooting them. Chasing the flavor of the month will always cost you much more.
