What have you done with your airgun today?

I got my Bronze Ernest Rowe cocking handle today. But being bright and shinny it didn't match so good. Sooo I fired up the compressor and got the glass beads out and I bead blasted it. It matches better, still not perfect but pretty darn good.

Hit my 10" aluminum fry pan target at 125 yards....offhand.

I was getting very impatient with the last two days winds for this video. Finally they eased up some an hour ago, 5-7 mph full value cross winds. I was really pushing the range limits with an open sighted HW80 .22. With the sights set to maximum height I still needed that white cardboard for an aim point. It was placed into the wind to compensate for pellet drift. Still, the varying winds pushed a few left and some low. I am confidant I would have not missed it in totally calm conditions. Still gratifying to hear that clank like I have heard thousands of times.😁

I swapped springs on my ProSport then put the spring back. I put a JM spring in the PS about a year ago and it has been shooting a consistent 12 foot pounds. The shot cycle was the best I have experienced. Absolutely no vibration or harshness. It fit the OEM guide tight so I knew that was one of the reasons it shot so smoothly.

Just out of curiosity and wanting a bit more power, I bought the same spring but with thicker wire from JM. I installed it today and the velocity was the same as the softer spring??? The shot cycle was harsher and the cocking stiffer. To say the least, I was bummed that I wasted about two hours polishing and prepping the “stronger” spring. Luckily, these guns are easy to remove the springs. No compressor required. I quickly remove the spring and popped in the old one. She’s back to normal now. I think this is just of those springers that is happy at 12 ftlbs. I know I am 😊

Btw, here are the springs I bought from JM:

The spring my gun likes is the one with the thinner wire or the Moderate FAC spring.

So that’s what I did today with my gun.

Yesterday I made an EZ set up three legged target frame to hang my .22 rimfire plates on. Used 3/8 ths. rebar and painted it. Gave it the stability test this morning. Hit the 8" dia. x 3/16 ths. hard plate with a handful of .22 cal. FTT's with the HW80 from 85 feet away. Looks plenty stable enough to me.

Checked zero non my impact last night, needed once click. NSA 23 grain sure shoots nice with the superior liner. This group is from top of my green waste bin with no sand bag.

then a house sparrow decided to visit my bird feeder this morning so the Dreamtac compact give it a nice dirt dream with .25 hades at 580fps. Very loud smack and an explosion of feather ensued, not even a twitch after. Like they said, over kills is just about right!!!

I pulled out three springers today and shot them at 25 yards to check their zeros. They all have SWFA scopes on them... It is a pleasure to look through really clear glass. I think I'll spend some time with my BSA Lightning XL GRT in .25. I want to really wring it out and get it's book sorted. It sports a 6x42 SWFA Mil/Mil. That's an exit pupil of 7mm so it should do just fine right up till dark. It's pushing H&N FTT 20.06 grain pellets just under 600 fps for about 15.6 FPE. The trigger is a bit heavy, maybe a little time with a stone, next week.

Got a grey squirrel at about 20 yards, dropped down with a headshot, no twitch. I went to check on him and he wasn't moving. They don't all seem to do the dance when headshot, or even twitch.

Then seemed to miss the next three shots. I'm using the H&N Terminator .22. What I credited to perhaps good placement and really good expansion on the first one, I now am starting to take away and wonder if they were all fliers or if I was missing so much at the same distance due to sheer incompetence. I'll have to do some more target shooting to check for consistency.
