Rock Squirrel 40 yards
Notos (stock) 15.89grain @ 756 fps / 20 ft lbs
Not sure what happened exactly, wish I had zoomed in more so I could have seen better what happened but I think the
pellet may have glanced off his head because at impact he shut down immediately, but then got up and scrambled back up to his den pretty quickly.
I climbed up to retrieve him but couldn't see him in his den, but there was small blood trail.
I hate when I can't retrieve something I shot but happens I guess. From now on I'm gonna save the Notos for backyard plinking and use the 30 cal Vulcan 3 when I'm out, these rock squirrels are tough and if they don't drop dead immediately they go back in their holes.
I know at 50 yards my stock Notos with 15.89 grains is only carrying about 11 or 12 ft lbs. so kinda weak for more than back yard plinking and varmints under 20 yards.
So what do you think? Did he survive with a serious headache or did he crawl home and die.
