What do you think? Am I worried about nothing?

In July I ordered an FX Crown .22 synthetic from AoA. They did not have any in stock but they were expected to arrive by the end of July or early August so I placed my order and also ordered a rail section to be installed by them because I don’t trust myself to do it right.

Fast forward to 8/2 I get an email that the rifles have arrived from FX and it would ship the following week. Great!

Well, I hadn’t heard anything by 8/10 so I asked about it and was told they had just finished testing and it would ship out the next Monday. And it did ship but they forgot to send me a ship notification so that added to my frustration a little.

Now I don’t mind waiting for quality control and testing because I want it done right. But what I’m really concerned about is this:

I thought it was odd that they crossed out the laminate and wrote “synthetic”.

So I emailed FX and asked them for the birthday and specifics of my new rifle. They told me that it was originally a grey laminate and was built in DECEMBER 2017. What???

I’m less concerned that the stock was swapped but I paid for a new rifle and was told that they just received them in August.

Did they give me an old rifle with a new stock?

Does it really take that long for a rifle to get from Sweeden into the hands of the dealer?

I know FX makes continuous improvements over time and the newer guns are supposed to have an updated regulator design and I would hope that’s what I am getting.

My first instinct is to call up AoA and complaining but I wanted to check with you guys first to see if this kind of thing was normal or if I’m worrying about nothing?

As a consumer paying good money for these things, I would say that giving them a friendly call, not to complaint per say, but to inquire about the subject, and go from there.

Personally I would be less worried about the swapping of the stock & would just be sure that I had the stuffs/upgrades? you were expecting with your purchase.

That’s what I’m thinking as well. A stock is a stock but the internals of the gun being 8 months old and also supposedly just arrrived at the dealer is what I can’t wrap my head around.

I would not blame AoA yet.

I'm dealing with European sport equipment factory.

It takes time for equipment to move inside the factory and later internationally, especially across the ocean to USA.

December 2017 - I would not call that old, it is designed to operate at least 5-10 years, some airguns are perfectly fine even after longer time.

And that’s why I started this thread. I don’t know how long it takes to get from the factory to the distributor and then to the dealer. I had never inquired about it before and I figured someone else would know more than me.

I ordered my Streamline in April ... Waited months for the shipment

My FX Streamline has a production date of November 2017

Seems like quite a lag between the guns being made, shipping, being received and then sold

I am still waiting for 2 spare magazines for my Streamline .. I finally contacted FX in Sweden and it looks like they are making an effort to ship a batch to the Canadian dealer.

Lucky...

FX is big world wide company, it takes time even within the factory to move items, a lot of procedures - QA, packing, storing, distribution.

Add shipping across the ocean, plus ports and customs.

We saw containers sitting in US ports for weeks without any explanation.

They simply ignore your requests and you can't do anything about that.

You still have warranty from sales date, not manufacture.

I would definitely call and ask them whether the gun they sent to you has the new updated regulator in it or the old one. If you get the old one you have just bought yourself a dinosaur … the same with all of us who bought Impacts a few months before they came out with the updated regulators for it. Was watching one of Ernest's videos last night and he said the only way to tell whether you got the updated regulator in the Impact is to take the trigger housing off and look on the block and if there is a serial number on the block you know you have a updated regulator … I checked … mine didn't.

The time to check these things out is NOW … all the "what ifs" in the world wont amount to a hill of beans if you don't check it out now and be certain that you are getting what you paid for. On the Impact, there is a whole lot of difference between the old regulator and the new regulator … just sayin'.

I don’t think AoA would know if it has a new or old regulator. I’ve sent a message to FX about that but I’m not sure they will respond. Do you know how to tell the difference between them on a crown?

Maineiac, no I do not but I do know that that gun has a serial number on it and it should be relatively simple for AoA to call the factory and find out whether it is the newer version or the earlier model … in fact you could probably call up FX USA and ask Jessica if you can talk to Ernest for a second and he might be able to give you the information just by using the serial number ... call 866-639-0772 or e-mail Ernest at [email protected]

Good Luck

Is this what the new Impacts should have when the trigger guard is removed (housing). I just removed it from my Impact X and there is a serial on the block.

Could be as simple as not having the correct sticker or as involved the wrong parts in the right gun or who knows what. Lets face it when a model is updated there very easily could be a run of a number of rifles with a mixture of parts. And when a new model is released the previous models are going to sit or be sold at discount prices. I've never heard or would think AOA would sell something less then what was ordered and paid for but I could easily see that distributers or even manufactures might. I'd research that gun carefully and figure it out. And if there is a doubt I'd have AOA replace the gun. I'll bet they would do that if there is any question.
