What do you bring to the Range?

I tend to bring too much. Way too much. And probably only use about 15 percent of what I bring. How do you bring it? Cartons? Paper bags? That harbor freight case is big and heavy when I have the impact, scope, bipod, magazines, slugs and pellets it is too heavy at least for me. Good thing I did not buy that 3 lb scope!

I usually bring three or four air rifles, in hard cases, two tanks, a Walmart range bag with my Chrony, ear protection, tool bag, scope leveling kit and a couple/three ammo cases full of pellets. Also bring my range hardcase with more pellets, cleaning kits, smallish PCP bottles, for some of my guns, and spotting scope. Targets and stapler are in a 25gallon storage container that lives in the car. It's allot more than I need but I bring it all anyway as home is twenty minutes away if I forget something.

At least you are only 20 mins away. I bring something similar but only one tank and 2 guns. I really don't want to jump from gun to gun and waste my day but just in case I don't bring the right tool. I can deal with the second gun. I'm like hour 20 up and a hour, 45 back depending on what time I leave to go home. I've wasted a good part of the morning once turning around because I forgot my fill hose and adapter. 😫

I should probably also bring a adjustable drummer's stool, as you can see this table was a little high.

@Healthservices, what range is that in the picture? I knew it was SoCal as soon as I saw it. Nearer L.A. or San Diego? NICE long distance range!

PALA down on the Indian reservation about 20 mins south of the casino. 880 yards at the top.

Do you guys go to firearm ranges, or are there airgun ranges as well (guessing airgun ranges might be easier to get approved?)

Its a powder burner range. I don't think they allow the big 50 cals but it sure is loud on the firing line! I do try to have my ear plugs and muffs on. And yes I still can be considered a newbie as their shots do affect my groups at times.

Gerry I go there every 2 weeks on Mondays (off work every other) and will most likely be there again the Monday after next. maybe Ill see you there. Only thing is it is a little pricey compared to some of the other ranges. Maybe due to inflation. New prices on the 4th of April will be $40 and $30 for Military, Law Enforcement, Veterans and First Responders. I do like the abundance of steel targets there!

So this is my new current version. I like, but thinking soft bags for the air rifles as that big harbor freight thing takes way too much space in the car and heavy. The stool although light should be changed to something easy to tear down. The box's are good right now, easy to tear down and put in car. Pull out only the boxes I need at the range. I just need to mark more of them.

Man I want to be confident to bring that little out there.

Ah forgot about the ice chest. I'm still doing a bunch of testing. Well I dunno I guess I will always be doing that. In reality I probably used less than a 1/3 of what you see.

That day at the range I used everything in the big harbor freight box, which is the impact, the bipod, K&L attached monopod. Some Allen wrenches, slugs. The air tank. Staple gun, ear protection, fx chronograph, targets. I actually forgot the Chair as the tables there are of various heights and this is what I had to do to get a chair the right height.

The rest is basically a security blanket.

The extras included a 700mm barrel in 22. A Impact with a 30 cal. Incase the primary gun did not go as planned i could at least shoot something else. Un-needed rests.

A whole drawer of pellets, slugs and mags.

Moderators, picks, extra bipod.

No gun cleaning equipment. I'm sure it will constantly be evolving. For some strange reason I was wanting of all things a vice while I was out there! 🙄

Maybe bring a labradar out there next time too. 🤔
