What do I need to do to get started hunting in Virginia?

What I’m asking is what kind of paperwork do my parents or I have to do so I can hunt small game - squirrels, rabbits, and other birds - or what kind of licensing I need, what is the “bag” limit for a day and for a season for the animals I listed, and what do I need to watch out for (laws). Tried doing research but some things say that you need this and others this, so please help me out.
