Hello It all depends on what you plan to do with the gun and how far you can shoot. I use American Airgun Trajectory Calculator and tailor my zero to the ammo I am shooting and my intentions for the gun (shooting targets, hunting, etc) as a rule though I try to find the latest trajectory with in my distance limits. I am 82 so I chose 25 yards as that is the distance that I feel comfortable for my MOS shots on my property. This is my trajectory plot for my rifle.

I sight in at the distance that I usually shoot. For me that's 35 yards. Then I'll hold over or under from there.

Depends for what you are going to use the rifle.

Down load Strelok pro on your phone and play with it. Will give you lots of info for yardage and hold overs.

I sight in for 20 yards with my AA S510. Puts me a little high at ~40 yards, and I have to hold over a little for 65 yards.
Depends, like the previous commenters, how much land you got and where you expect to take the majority of your shots.
IMHO you want dead on hold where you shoot most!!

yes, depends on usage mostly .. what i do personally is use chairgun to get the maximum 'point blank' range with my pellet and velocity .. that is what the crosshairs are on it kills within that range which will typically be within 10-45 yards .. and done properly theres holdover for both closer and further ... closer im not good at .. further i can nail stuff moving usually out to 75 or so .. but the actual zero point will vary by velocity and scope height and some other minor factors, usually around 17 yards or so is the perfect spot but it needs to be exact to gain maximum effectiveness .. just a yard or two off that spot can throw it out ..
