Might need to try some of the RWS 7gr wadcutters.

I went for my usual walk on a path mowed around my property. It is about a .8 mile trek. I took my Diana Chaser pistol with me. I like to shoot at a few metal targets I have along the trail and I NEVER shoot at any blackbirds that might be in the trees here and there... I was tempted by 2 rabbits, but I am getting soft and let them hop away. About 1/4 of the way down the trail, I see a hen pheasant and several little ones. I was wondering why she wasn't running away from me..??/ THEN I saw the problem. a damn MINK was stalking her and the chicks. It kept moving back and forth on the trail. I pooped off a long shot at it and realized the gun was running out of Co2!! I tried a few more lob shots and finally the mink thought the better of it and left. It might have a sore butt from a 200fps pellet, but I doubt it!! (No limit and no restrictions on mink in my State before the Karens yell at me!) I saw about 5 chicks fly off with the hen. It looks like a good bird year!!!

This morning was the last day of my first week of one gun all week shooting . So i shot the outgoing HW77 long in .22 , 10's and X;s on N50 target bulls
Now this week i am shooting #1 TX200 .177 " all week workout ." May switch to TX200 # 2 mid week ??? #1 TX performed admirably for 5 shots same N50 target 5 X's . Rain and thunder shut me down ! for now .

I sniped bottle caps with the DreamTac at 20 and 50 yards to verify everything is centered up following a tumble a little while ago. Only drop to compensate for, so I am satisfied everything is centered up well enough. I smoked a male sparrow at 20 yards and then his girlfriend punched out when she stopped by a few seconds later to see where her beau went. That makes 5 for the DreamTac and 3 for the Mrod, but the Mrod has an impressive ~50 yard score on a chipmunk using aperture sights.
I don't normally mess with the sparrows but this year they've presented a property issue, so I take them out if they offer a safe shot. Every couple of weeks I am able to eliminate a one or two. This is the first time I've gotten what appeared to be a mating pair in one sitting. No broken hearts...

What's an Mrod?

Finished up rebuilding / built up myself a Back Up gun for Field Target. An Old School THEOBEN Rapid in .177 caliber.

Someone motivated me to experiment with a different .20 pellet weight. So I did some rearranging / ring lowering / scope swapping in my EFT / HFT TM1000 pistols - lots of busy piddling so I can zero things tomorrow and build some solid dope.

Posted this on another thread but, this is what I did today.

Discovered that .117 Mk3 Explode lol and I'm actually surprised they grouped so well at 50 yards being such a light slug, thanks for the suggestion.

Don't think I'll use them on squirrels because I don't think they'd penetrate enough, at least on these rock squirrels, they are tough.

So here's what I found out today: @1112 fps (High Power on the Pulsar) the JSB 10.03 Knockout MK3 are all over the place at 50 yards, too fast

1000010259.png1000010248.jpg

So I slowed them down to 1018 fps (Medium Power on the Pulsar) and the group was less than 1/2" at 50 yards, under a dime size... Those circles are 3/4" circles.

1000010258.png1000010249.jpg1000010250.jpg1000010251.jpg

So I tested expansion of the 10.03g MK3 @ 1018 fps / 23 fpe in 5gal bucket of water and they just blew up. As a comparison I also shot the 16.5g Varmint knockers @894fps / 29fpe.

All the shrapnel is by the 10.04g MK3 knockouts on the photo but I actually think that most of that is from the Varmint Knockers, the Knockers didn't really mushroom much they seemed to fragment leaving the core to penetrate deeper....which you can see helped in the later photos of the squirrel.

1000010256.jpg1000010257.jpg

So I had a little more time and since the Pulsar was sighted in for the 16.5g Varmint Knockers I just used them, the 10.03g Knockouts were shooting high and I didn't want to screw around sighting in for different distances, I'm just now getting the ranges down for the 16.5g and as you can see I'm a little off on my Kentucky windage.

Squirrel was at 38 yards and I hit him a bit low (I'm zeroed at 50 yards), and here is where I'm glad for the extra penetration because I don't think the 10.03 would have been as effective. Hit him in the neck instead of his head but the 16.5g broke his neck, travelled down the spine a bit and almost broke through the opposite shoulder, slug was just sitting under the skin.

Another squirrel for the stew!

Another fine day.
