What did you do airgun related today.

Yesterday I did a tune on the Zelos again for the 18 domed Hatsan Apolo pellets. I did a more careful tune adjusting slowly. When I reached 855 on the reg my chrony shut down too hot I think. I keep shooting 5 shot groups using the force. I was awakened when I shot a perfect 5 shot group all thru
the exact same hole. I had 6 shots left , and tried the chrony it worked. I got a average of 900.00 fps , and 2 were a duplicate at 898.3.
That was my very first time doing that in my life never shot a perfect 5 before with a total of 80 shots for that tune.OV.

Had an unintentional discharge yesterday with my stubby Crosman Mk1, good that I had it pointed to the range. Took it all apart for inspection and found the hammer was worn out, it's over 50 years old, something has to wear out by now. Any way I weld material back and turned it down on the lathe, good as new again and back to the Mark family, lol.

Had retuned the uragan for more power yesterday. Did some testing on slug performance. At roughly 32-50 fps higher velocities.

All shot into a Medium to simulate a pigeon, a roughly 2.25" diameter ball of Lard and Beeswax wrapped in a thin leather pouch, Backed with a fleece roll.

I took a break from airguns last year. I had to store a lot of my stuff because I had kids coming over that were just the right age to Put An Eye Out, and to be honest I wasn't in the mood to play Airgun Evangelist. Targets, backstops, a metric ton of unassembled PCPs, etc all got stored away. After they were gone I just never got it back out. A couple of days ago I decided to get the airguns back out.

At the time I put it up last year I was getting ready to redo my pellet trap routine of tub and rubber mulch. I normally get a kick out of repurposing stuff on the cheap, but this time I said the heck with it and bought a .22LR-capable trap and the other parts needed to mount it on a stand. Was working fine. The Avenger was a little off zero but was still accurate. I was a little rusty but I expected that. Next steps: put the Buck Rail stuff back on the Avenger for laughs, send my FX off for repairs (DO NOT FIRE A DREAMLINE WITHOUT AIR IN IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BREAK IT), and find the leak in the Rainson.

5.5" target is too risky, added 1/2" backstop for indoor 4 fpe SP500 pistol. Used rubber feet and picture frame wire for hanging.

$20 for pellet trap on amazon 5.5" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CG56B6S
$15 for 2x2' birch plywood at lowes
$3 for ace hardware rubber screw in bumpers
$1 for 4x ace hardware #8x1/2" screws and one #8x1".
$7 for picture frame wire and hanger set at walmart grocery store
----
$46

edit: rubber bumpers are on backside at 4 corners to avoid scuffing wall. Wire is hand wrapped around two #8x 1/2" screws in the back and around itself. Longer screw is so I can tilt it down towards me since I have it 8 feet up.

These 5.5" pellet trap cardstock targets are pretty cheap, about 10 cents or less each and made of nice cardstock, got 50 free ones for a $20 target. You can stuff about 10 in there before having to remove some and having old ones in there helps keep pellets contained. One or two microfiber rags muffle it completely.

I ordered a Beeman R7 177 yesterday. It will be handed down to my son when he is ready to start learning. I might buy a R9 for myself so we can shoot springers together. But I have time, he’s only 2.

So basically the last few days have been reading about R7’s and HW30’s.
I’ve been out of state on vacation for the last week, so just a lot of thinking about AG’s.

Again I tried to powder coat my Mk 1 stubby, same bad results I got from a few months ago. All the other guns like my S&W 78 & 79 came out very nice. So I think it has too much porosity and oil is impregnated on it. Decided to just polish this for now until I can gain access to a large ultrasonic tub.

Hope you get it finished the way you want , but for now it looks very good.

Yes I gave it a like , but just had to ask what caliber is it , and air bottle is so long how many shots from that beauty.
.25 cal. Shot count will depend on the tune. She's rated at 4500psi. The reg. is showing 1900psi, that's probably a pellet tune? Slug tune recommendation starts at 2100psi and above 900fps.

I'll get a basic 10m zero, maybe tomorrow, and see if I can make the Natechrony work. Testing! That will tell.
