Did some checking on where I might find a nice Walnut stock for an old(San Rafael) HW-30 with the European style stock. It's got the finger grooves up front, the rounded pistol grip and a bare wood butt, and very lightweight. I've never seen one, but I know SOMEONE can make one for me. When I first started air gunning in about 1987, I bought all magnum springers. My first one, a HW-77(long barrel), I bought at a gun store, and I really had no idea what I was buying. When the clerk told me it was a pellet gun, I knew I had to have it.
About 5 years ago I bought the old HW-30 and fell in love with it. Now, I've got 2 old HW-30's, and 3 R-7's. What a joy to shoot - lightweight, accurate, easy to cock, and no safeties.
Florida Man....that target looks pretty challenging for an old man like me. My HW-77 is pretty accurate at 25 yards. Maybe I'll give it a try and see how I do. Do you have a favorite pellet that works well in most of your guns? I did extensive test with a lot of different pellets and the H&N Field Target Trophy was the winner. I still have all those test targets from those test and I'll pull them out and review the results. Thanks for the target and a good idea.
