What did I do?? FX Impact issue.... won't fire

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired a first gen FX Impact in .25 caliber. The gun has worked flawlessly with JSB Kings. For some reason I decided to try some En Jin pellets and the very first one miss feed and got jammed between the magazine and barrel. The magazine would not release from the gun.

So being paranoid to not damage the gun (which I obviously have done), I removed the bottle and then (is this were I screwed up?) lightly open the threads on the regulator gauge to release the remaining air. I then proceeded to remove the check piece and the right rear side by the magazine. The jammed pellet was removed and I reassembled the gun and attached the bottle. In hind sight, I assume I did not need to degas the gun to remove the jammed pellet?

Everything looked good, regulator gauge back to 135. I loaded a pellet and pulled the trigger, click, and NOTHING!! Now when I remove the bottle, all the air from the regulator is released at the same time the bottle is removed.

So what the heck did I do wrong so I won't do it again? Is this a broken valve stem? Is it something the average person could fix or is it time to consult a professional to repair it? And if I have to send it out for repair, should i also upgrade to the high capacity magazine? Power Plenum? AMP regulator?

Thanks for any and all feedback, especially the ones that point out my errors.

Seem like your impact is not the mk2 and it's one of the older gen impacts so I'm pretty sure there is no warranty for it. You could send it to fx for a fee and they can repair it. I have taken my impact x apart many times to install c3 ring, install hammer weight, install large valve seat, etc and I have never had a problem with my impact not firing. If air is going into the reg then when the hammer strike the valve some air should have come out. Since you said the reg pressure is only 135 bar. There is no way for it to valve lock. Either something is jamming and not letting the hammer hit the valve when you pull the trigger. Either take everything apart and put back the right way....watch earnest videos will help. Or send it to fx for a fee and shipping cost and be without your impact for a month.

I have an Impact X, however beyond changing a C3 bumper I've not really had it apart. So I am not a FX Mr. Fix-it by any means.

You say you pull the trigger, click and NOTHING. Does the "click" sound like the hammer hitting the valve rod? If it's very slight, maybe your hammer spring is broke or is adjusted a bit too light. Be sure you're on MAX when trying to figure this out.

If it' sounds like a good hit, as heavy-impact mentioned it could be that the valve rod is stuck. Follow those directions.

Another thing to consider... since you took off the reg pressure gauge, it "might" be off for some reason. If your reg pressure is actually way above 135 it would also cause issues like you are having. Try dialing it down to 100 and see what happens. If you can't get the gauge needle to move by turning the reg adjustment screw out, maybe the gauge is bad. Good Luck.

P.S. Since it sounds like you have the gen 1 model, you need to release all the air prior to turning the reg down.

Problem has been solved!!! Heavy-impact you basically had it nailed from the beginning when you asked "Is the barrel clear?", well yes the barrel was clear, but the valve was not!!!

Somehow when I had the jammed pellet, one fell thru the barrel opening and into the valve itself. Thanks to the member's comments and Ernest Rowe video's gave me the confidence to start taking my new to me gun apart. Now I''m kind of glad I had a problem because I know so much more about my gun.

Like the title of my post says, "what did I do?" ... I lost track of the number of pellets and should have known it had to be somewhere!!

Thanks again for everyone's help!
